Questions about getting a room with a king bed...

Never been to Disney before and going for my honeymoon April 2016. If we book online once next year's rates come out how exactly do you request a room with a king sized bed? Is there something you need to specify when you book online? Do you need to actually call them up to request? We plan to stay either at the BoardWalk Inn or Beach Club.

Also another question...Does asking for a room with a king sized bed lessen our chances of applying one of those 30% spring discounts once that comes along? We want to book as soon as possible but we would love to save some money with a spring discount. The time we will be staying will most likely land within next year's spring discount. Will asking for a king sized bed lower our chance of being able to apply the spring discount once it happens?

Thanks all!

1. You place that request on your reservation by calling Disney.

2. No requesting a king size bed will have no effect on wether a discount can be applied or not.

Enjoy your honeymoon.

Thanks for the quick response and answers! I'm curious though about number 2. Are there only a certain amount of rooms with king sized beds at each resort? I could imagine there would be a lot less rooms with 1 king bed than rooms with 2 beds since more families go to Disney. That's where my concern comes from because I know with these discounts they only allot a certain amount of rooms for the discount. Which is why I was asking if asking for a room with a king sized bed would make it less likely we could get a discount applied.

Yes each resort only has a certain number of King Bedding rooms. You would book your room with the discount or have it applied later and just have a request for a king size bed on the reservation.

Only certain rooms are guaranteed kings such as at the GF they have Deluxe King room. For the resorts you are looking at requesting a king size bed will not effect the price of your room in anyway. To clarify Disney will view a standard room with a king just like any other standard room. They will not place a discount on a standard with 2 queens and not on a standard with a king. To them a standard room is a standard room when it comes to price and how many they allocate for a discount.

Just remember it is only a request and does not guarantee you will get a king. That said we have had very good luck requesting king beds.

I know that you want to stay at an Epcot resort, but if a king bed is a priority, they are a bookable category of their own at the moderate resorts.

They are also a bookable room category at Grand Floridian they are main building king deluxe and are often referred to as honeymoon suites. If a king is a must would book it as they really don't have that many king bedded rooms. Now I am sure honeymooners are given priority but for peace of mind I would want to book it, if it was super important to me.

I'm 1 for 1 on requesting a king bed at Beach Club, even though they only have a handful of them. I requested one again for our trip in August. Fingers crossed!

Thank you so much everyone for your help and suggestions. Since the normal beds in these rooms are queen sized it wouldn't be the worst thing to have the two queens in the room instead of 1 king bed. Would just be nice to only have the 1 bed since it will only be 2 of us. We will book, make our request and have it noted that we will be on our honeymoon. Then we will hope for the best come December/January when the spring discounts come out and hopefully get to apply a discount to our reservation!

You could look into the villas at these resorts. If you go with a studio, you would only have 1 Queen bed, but a 1 bedroom would give you a King Bed. You could also check into renting points for the villas, but you might want to wait to see if you get a better % off deal for the villas directly through WDW.
