Questions about Escape Wedding

Hey guys,

I have a few questions regarding the escape weddings and I was hoping someone could help.

I am disappointed that I will not be able to use Randy, can I give the Disney photographers examples of pics I would like?

When it says that they only allow 10 people at the Sunset Pointe, does that mean 10 guests and the bride and groom, or 10 including the bride and groom?

How much is it to upgrade your cake, I would like the mad hatter one.

I wanted to do both the Epcot and the MK photo packages, when do you do these?

I would have a total of 14 guests coming, 4 of them children. Is Disney really strict about the 10 person thing for Sunset Point or could the kids just hangout next to their parents.

We are thinking of eating at California Grill for dinner and for the fireworks. Can I just make a normal ressie or do I need to buy out a private room for dinner, it seems soo expensive to do that.

Ok so that's all I can think of now, thank you to whoever can help! :goodvibes

I can answer a few of those...

Is Randy booked, is that why you're not using him? Because if he's available, you can book him (if you sign your contract before Oct. 2008 I tihnk it is) and recieve a honeymoon shot in place of your disney photography.

Disney is SUPER strict on children counting as guests, so if you have 14 including children, that's how Disney will look at it. My 2 year old twins count as guests at my own wedding!

The 2 -tier mad hatter cake is around $450, so that's what your cake will cost minus what they think the basic escape cake costs, so it might be slightly less than that.

You can schedule your honeymoon shoot and MK shoot at anytime durinf your stay at Disney and then up to a year after your wedding...

I'm definitely giving Disney photography examples of what I like, and I've requested I speak to the photographer I'm assigned before arriving.

I'm doing a room buyout for my dinner, so I can't help you the question on the California Grill...

Anyway, hope I helped a little! ;)

they are very strict on kids counting and on the 10 ppl at sunset point(including the bride and groom so ... bride groom and 8 guests)i had a rough guesstament of 11 and i was told no..lol

what is a room buyout?

A room buyout, is when you rent out a private room at one of the restaurant's. Like the California Grill has private rooms, if you want the whole room, they set a food and beverage minimum for you to meet to be able to have the room to yourself. It might be $1500 or $3000, but you pay it for the privacy.

I don't know about the MK bridal shoot (in your wedding attire) but for the honeymoon shoot I was told that it ABSOLUTELY HAD TO BE DURING MY STAY. I subbed out the honeymoon shoot for photography for my escape wedding in February and then ended up missing the shoot b/c I was forced to schedule it during our stay and the timing was horrible. My husband went back to work the day after the wedding and the two days we were on property before the wedding were just to hectic to do it.

I kept reading too that the honeymoon shoot could be done up to a year after your wedding, but when I asked I was told NO, it had to be scheduled during our stay.

Not that this is what you were asking about OP, but I just wanted to throw my experience in there. I was really frustrated because I was counting on doing later in the year and then was told by Disney that I couldn't.

Wow Wendy... that's such a bummer you couldn't schedule it anytime after your wedding. Very unfair. I think it depends on what direction the wind is blowing and what you're told by your WC... sometimes you get lucky and other times they stick by the rules... I do know that I was told up to a year definitely for the MK photo shoot though... :confused3

Yeah, i think you're totally right about the MK photo shoot. I do believe that is a year. And you're right too about which direction the wind is blowing. We came in on a Friday and our wedding was on Monday. So both of those days were out. We spent all day Sunday with our guests at MK and Saturday we had a lot of running around to do. Our honeymoon shoot was scheduled for Saturday morning (ironic since my wedding wasn't until Monday) and with the stress of everything and the day before being such a long day we just weren't able to make it.

That totally stinks! I cancelled my Honeymoon shoot yesterday... I just don't think we'll have time either and it wasn't that important to me anyway... But we were paying for ours, you on the other hand recieved it as part of your package because you used Randy... I mean, they should of been a bit more accomodating!

If you don't want to do a room buyout for the California Grill and you just want to go out to dinner with your 14 guests, you can get your intimate wedding coordinator to do that. I e-mailed mine to ask her to get us a reservation for 13 of us at Jiko the night before our wedding. I guess if I did it by myself I would have to call the Group Dining Reservations. They do say that they cannot guarantee that you will all be together, but if you try for a later dinner or an earlier dinner rather than at their prime time of 7 p.m., there is more of a chance you can be next to each other. There is no special menu and is definitely a cheaper way to go than buying out a whole room. Good luck with planning!

It doesn't matter when you sign the contract - Escape brides will ALWAYS be able to use outside photographers (until DFTW changes policy again ;) )b/c only in-park weddings are forbidden to do so, and Escape weddings are never held in the parks.
