So I've *almost* convinced the family that an Escape wedding is right for me and DF! I do have a couple concerns though.

If we use our own officiant, does he count towards the guest count?

Also, what do I do with plus ones? If I include them in the ceremony, we go over our limit, but I'd feel weird asking them to lurk around SBP. What have you other Escape brides done?

Thank you! :)

The officiants that are included in the list provided by DTFW do not count towards your guest count. So if you're bringing your own officiant or planning on having a friend or family member officiate they will still count.

I included all my plus ones in the guest total. One option would be to have your guest attend the wedding and then have their "plus one" join you later if you're having a meal or similar celebration.

I know I am being boring and repetitive, but if you consider a S/D wedding (which would probably end up being significantly cheaper than an Escape anyway), you will have no guest or officiant restrictions ;)

This was a big consideration for our Escape wedding last year. We had my father-in-law as our officiant, so it wasn't a huge deal with the guest count since he was going to come anyway. We also had an outside photographer that does count toward the guest count. As for plus ones, we had included them in our final count because after speaking with a few, they did feel a bit left out to not be able to attend the ceremony. But all of our plus ones were basically family to us anyway, so their opinion was really important to us. I would say if they are spending the money and time to travel to Florida for your wedding, it may be nice to include them in the ceremony if they'd like to be included and if you are close with them. But if they are totally cool with meeting everyone later, then that's awesome and definitely opens up your guest count!

Look into a Swan and Dolphin wedding.

I wanted an Escape wedding but the guest count was waaayyy too low for us. Plus, I think it's rude to invite a couple to your wedding and only invite half of the couple to the ceremony, JMHO!!

Seriously, an S/D wedding was the best choice we've made. There is NO guest limit, there are no restrictions, and the wedding planner is amazing!

PS. if you bring in your own officiant for an Escape (s)he would count towards your guest limit.
