So we have 3 days till we leave for Disneyland and my husband goes and breaks his ankle. He says we are not cancelling trip even though we have been to Disneyland 3 times already and Disneyworld 4 times. Because he has Degenerative Disc Disease we are already familiar with the GAC. However, my question is this: with his DDD he can walk just has to take frequent rest and such so walking in alternate line to get on ride is not a problem. With a broken ankle he is on crutches. We want to rent an electric scooter but don't know the price or how to budget for it. Any fellow disers out there know? Next question is will they let him go all the way through the alternate line in his wheelchair. If there are some rides that will not what are they? Any help is greatly appreciated.:confused3

have no idea where you are staying but if you are at a hotel within walking distance you can rent a scooter from Medical supply for less than at DL.
I have used Orange Medical..3 days was $80...and they deliver to your hotel and pick up after you leave.
as for the rides..At DL a lot of the rides you enter the exit. most of them you have to walk a short distance but the CM usually asks if you are able to do so.
At CA you enter thru the regular line.. If you rent from an outside source you can also take the scooter to Downtown..the rentals at the park can only go between the two parks.
the info pamphlet at the entrance will tell you the which rides have a Handicap entrance..
Have Fun....

sorry forgot to mention the Scooters at the park are $45 or $50 a day if any are still available when you arrive at the park..........they go on first come first sever basis...

Some where here is the number to dekert. there cheap and send the scooter to your motel!! you can rent for about 180.00 for 7 days ( thats what I am doing) 1-714-542-5607

Your story sounds familiar. DH has had to have knee surgery twice before a scheduled DL trip. We canceled once and the second time we sucked it up and rented an ECV from Deckerts. They were really good to us and made it very easy. Just remember to charge the scooter each night and possibly when you stop for a lunch break. Which means remember to bring the power cord with you to the park. We learned that the hard way!:) Good luck!

By the way, you actually mean an Electric Convenience Vehicle (ECV) as an electric wheelchair is something different (and much more expensive).

I would suggest going over to the disABILITIES Forum. One of the first threads is the disABILITIES FAQs. On Post #2 we have a lot of information for people with mobility issues, and Post #14 deals with the Disneyland Resort and gives some suggested ECV vendors.

Thank all of you so much. Knew fellow disers could help me out. You guys are awesome.
