Questions about Disneyland in October

We have just booked our trip leaving Oct 7-13 My question is..does Disneyland do something for Halloween during this time and if so what do they do and how much does it cost?? Also are some of the rides down for refurbishment in October?? We were last there in Feb of 2007 and Splash mountain was down and the kids were rather disappointed. Any help would be greatly appreciated

We are also going in October, but our package starts Oct. 29th.
I know "Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party", runs on different nights throughout October. This is a MUST SEE EVENT! The party takes place in Magic Kingdom from 7pm to midnight, each night of the party. Tickets for this event must be purchased separately. 2009 ticket prices have not yet been released, (at least I don't think yet), but based on 2008's prices, they are about $47.00 each (if purchased in advance). If you purchase when you arrive, they will be a bit more.
I hope rides won't be shut down, and from what our TA has been able to tell me, there shouldn't be any shut downs then. The weather is also supposed to be pretty nice in October.

I assume the OP is asking about Disneyland in California and not WDW.

The hard-ticket event at the West Coast parks is at DCA, not DL. It's called "Mickey's Trick-or-Treat Party". The 2008 info page is still accessible on Disneyland.com here.

From what I remember from previous threads, MToT not as elaborate as MNSSHP at MK, but still very enjoyable. Disneyland itself is themed for Halloween...the past few years it's been marketed as "HalloweenTime". There's a giant Mickey Pumpkin on Main St. And I just love visiting Woody's Halloween Roundup at Big Thunder Ranch. And of course, there's the Nightmare Before Christmas overlay of the Haunted Mansion. Halloween is my favorite seasonal promotion at DL!
