Questions about Disneyland in October

We have just booked our trip leaving Oct 7-13 My question is..does Disneyland do something for Halloween during this time and if so what do they do and how much does it cost?? Also are some of the rides down for refurbishment in October?? We were last there in Feb of 2007 and Splash mountain was down and the kids were rather disappointed. Any help would be greatly appreciated

I went to DL this past October (if you want to check out my tr it's in my sig) during, almost exactly, those dates. There is a special Halloween Party called Mickey's Trick or Treat Party (MToTP) at DCA on some nights. It's like $25-30 I think. We didn't do it because it wasn't worth the money for us, but I know a lot of people enjoy it. You get the whole DCA park and the rides, as well as a bunch of trick-or-treat candy stations and plenty of opportunities to meet characters. However, tickets sell out on many nights, so if it's something that interests you, I recommend buying them well in advance.

As for ride refurbs, yeah there will most likely be some rides down because it's not a super busy season. The only times that rides are not down (unless they are under an extended multi-month refurb) are summer and Christmas basically, sometimes Spring Break.

Just another thing, crowds were definitely there when we went because many AZ and UT schools have "Fall break", and there was also a big convention when we went, so if you're expecting walk-ons, think again. Not to say that it will be jam packed, but you might need to plan a bit more for crowds than during other "low season" times.

We were there late last October and did the Trick or treat party. The party was ok if you like a ton of candy, want to wear a costume to the park and low crowds for rides. The best part was when Woody (my son's hero) picked him out of the parade crowd to dance. Ayden was wearing his Woody costume.

DL had Woody's Round-up which has a little play several times a day. You also get to meet and greet Woody and Jesse. They play games with you and there are arts and crafts to do. The parks are decorated for Halloween and the HM has its holliday overlay. IASW will most likely be closed for its holliday overlay. Fireworks are usually just on the weekends. We did basically walk onto the rides, longest wait was 20 min for TSMM. Hope this helps! Have fun!
