we are thinking of booking this, as it seems to be the only thing available through thomas cook sig (we are hopefully transfering a deposit over from another holiday if we can so have to take what we can) other than hotel cheyenne which we don't really fancy and have a few questions.

How much hassle is it driving to the parks each day (we are driving over so no issues with actually having a car)

Are guests here still eligible for EMH

Can we still book the character breakfast at cafe mickey or plaza gardens as part of our package (do we get a choice which one we go to????)

Am i right in thinking good morning fantasyland brekkie is off limits?

What is the onsite grocery store like? we are staying at a keycamp site prior to DLP so can always go to the supermarket and stock up on cereals and milk and drinks before we come. We won't be doing any self catering but the kids won't eat croissants so would need some bits in for brekkie (we quite liked the brekkie at Newport bay last year, and will miss that if staying at DCR)

I take it there is no maid service or anything in the cabins?

Many thanks

It is a 10 minute drive from DCR to the park so probably quicker than the shuttles :)

Yes you are :goodvibes

Yes you'll be able to book. Not sure about the choice though

Unfortunately that is correct

On-site is excellent IMHO. As well as usual provisions a good supply of beer and wine at resonable prices along with gifts

You can request housekeeping, they just need a days notice

Thanks for your quick reply, the more i read about it the more I like the idea of it. It would be nice having some facilities to have a drink when we want and also having a fridge to kep milk in for the little uns.

As we are coming from 10 days at a campsite (where DH goes fishing) it would provide a bit more peace of mind having the car outside the cabin (as it will contain fishing gear) and having a bit more room in a cabin to bring in any bits we don't want to leave in the car)

Think i can live without the maid service and the fantasy land breakfast as i will just book an early brekkie at plaza gardens if i can

Would you say it still has a disney feel to it???

We felt totally part of the Disney experience.
CM's have activities at night. Characters are available. Shopping from the parks can be sent to the DCR store for collection :goodvibes

Have a look at our trip report from July 2005 :goodvibes

have just read your trippie, looks great, I'm actually considering staying there now even if sequoia lodge is available

I dont think they do Character breakfast at Plaza Gardens now. I think its all at Cafe Mickey.

We stayed at DCR last year, will be doing so again this year, and would happily recommend it.

It's a lot quieter than the parks, which we enjoyed after a busy day, and you get the advantage of separate living/bedrooms - ideal if you have small children and don't fancy sitting in a darkened room once they go to sleep!

Some of the cabins (really just log clad caravans) are a wee bitty tired, but nothing that worried us. Free housekeeping was fine too.

The drive to the parks is very easy and quick; we only had a problem on a Saturday morning, when it was queued back a fair bit.

hi we have recently returned from dcr and had a fab time - much better than last year at the newport bay!! read my trip report - babymaddie report. the cabin we had was great, spotless with a newly fited kitchen and bathroom. it was so good having our own facilities and we were able to make up our lunches every day to cut down on our costs for our stay.

the drive was great in and out and nicer than having to be squashed like sardines on the shuttles. the outside area at the bar/restauraht were great and we met characters here and they did a bit of a banjo strumming contest. thepool area is fab and it totally feels like disney. the shop sold everything you needed and the cabins are well equipped with a microwave and 2 rings to cook on.

breakfasts are also great. we rang at 8am for a set of new towels and they were delivered to our cabin within the hour - great service.

i will only be staying here for our next trips to dlp.
