Questions About Changes to Stateroom

I have two “what if scenarios“ I was wondering about. Right now we are booked as a family of 5 separated into two connecting staterooms (same categories) next August.

Scenario 1: If my 20 year old decides he doesn’t want to go and we remove him from the reservation, can we shift everyone into one room at the purchase rate? Or will we have to redo the reservation at the prevailing rates?
Scenario 2: If we decided to do a back to back cruise and wanted to switch rooms (but still in same category) so that we have the same rooms for both cruises, can we keep our rates or does the room change make it so we have to change with the prevailing rates?

Moving someone from one reservation to another means that the person being moved will be charged the prevailing rate, I believe. But everyone already on that room's reservation will keep their original charge.

Changing rooms on the same cruise, the cost will remain what it was on the original booking date. The new cruise will be at the prevailing rate.

Thanks for the input. I forgot one part of my question in scenario 1... the room I am in has a 10% discount from onboard booking, if the others move over to my room will they also get the 10% discount? It’s for the entire room, right?

That one I can't answer. As the person who'd be moving into the reservation would be considered a "new" cruiser, I'm not sure how that works with onboard booking perks. Or if only those names on the original reservation get the perk.

Any chance you listed them on your OBB when you first booked it? It might depend on the CM making the changes for you. I've heard of both happening.

We all usually stay in one family verandah room, so all of us were on the OBB from time of booking. This is the first time we’ve split into two rooms. Sounds like I just need to be prepared for anything if we do make changes.

OBB’s don’t need names of additional cruisers. They are only attached to the owners, and even first time cruisers can use those benefits if traveling with a return cruiser.

Special discounts, like the one given to WBPC cruisers, need the actual names of people.

I’m pretty sure that in Scenario 1, you are just adding passenger(s) to an existing reservation with no penalty of changing the entire booking to current rate (and 3rd/4th passengers are cheaper, anyway - sometimes not affected by rate increase).

And that cabin #changes, within the same category (aft / mid / forward, deck ...) don’t increase pricing to current rates.

If you can get through, just call DCL and find out what it would cost to add a passenger to your room.

Does onboard booking discount apply to 2nd-5th passengers?

And sometimes, lifeboat limitations won’t allow you to book an additional person in your cabin, so verify you can add that person before you make any changes.

Bon Voyage
