I have 300 points at VWL, December UY.
I am thinking about buying more points at the BCV.
I know alot of people own at different resorts but how well do you manage it? I think it would be great to own near the MK and at Epcot.
Should I keep the UY the same for both resorts or factor in another time?
I love the month of April down there so what time would I be looking at for that? I know that the month seems to be irrelevant because of the 11month reservation. This is why I am confused.
If anyone owns at several resorts I would appreciate any input.
Thanks in advance.

If you plan on purchasing through Disney, you will have to have the same use year, unless you purchase a minimum of 160 points. We have two smaller contracts of 100 points at VWL and BCV. We use banking and borrowing to get 200 or 300 points every other year or every third year to make those tough to get Thanksgiving or summer vacations.

We have BWV & SSR points, both with the same UY (August). I like having the same UY for planning purposes. We can't really travel during the holidays because of my line of work. With an August UY we can get ressies in the summer months using the 11-month window, so it fits our travel habits pretty well.

I own at AKV, VWL, BWV and BCV -- all in the same UY. I'm not sure why anyone would prefer to own separate contracts with different UYs.

If you enjoy traveling in April, December is a fine UY because if you have to cancel your ressie, there is still time in your UY to use your points. This would be important for any points that you have borrowed or banked into the UY of the ressie. If you really liked to travel in November and in September, something came up and you had to cancel...well if you have a December UY, there is less time to use those points.

We own at various resorts, same UY. The 100 points each that we own at BCV and AKV will be banked and borrowed for family reservations every 2-3 years. We can't wait to share those resorts with our DGC! We have a March UY and I don't expect to ever book a whole family vacation at DVC in either January or February.

You can book your home resort 11 months from check out regardless of your Use Year. An August UY does not offer any advantages over any other UY if someone wants to book a summer stay. In fact, some would argue that it is not the best UY to have if you generally travel in the summer. It's usually best to have a UY that is just before the times you normally travel so that if you have to cancel, you will still be able to bank the points. You would also have the rest of your UY to reuse the points if you want to book another trip rather than bank the points. The best UYs for members who plan to go in the summer would be June or April. But then again, this only becomes an issue if you have to cancel a trip on relatively short notice. Also, travel patterns can change over the lifetime of your membership.
