We just bought at AKV but I would like to buy some resale points at BCV. Our AKV UY is August, do I have to purchase a resale with the same UY? Also what is the best way to get put on a waiting list to purchase a smaller contract? They seem to be hard to find from what I am looking at. Thanks so much

To purchase a small contract via resale, you do not have to get the same use year, although having a different use year will require you to be a little more vigilant in managing points. Call resale companies, like The Timeshare Store, and ask to be put on a waiting list for what you want. Then be prepared to jump on it right away, since the small contracts go fast.
You can also add on through Disney and be on their waiting list. Disney will require you to purchase a minimum of 160 points if you want a different use year. If you keep the same use year, you can add as few as 25 points.

I am not in any hurry to purchase the points, so it might be easier to go through Disney and have them all be the same UY?

I'd buy a small BCV contract from DVC. You will have to pay the same price to clear ROFR, and unless you're getting a bunch of banked points, you'll go through a longer process and be no better off.

I wouldn't give the same advice for most other resorts, but a small contract at BCV will be hard to find and very pricey. Might as well go direct and have the convenience of the same UY on both contracts.
