Hi everyone.

How does DVC handle reservations if one books using borrowed points, then subsequently purchases add-on points for the current year?

Can you cancel the original reservation, then rebook using the new current year points? Or can you just ask DVC to return the borrowed points to the original UY and use the new current year points instead?

Just wondering how this would work, as we're looking at adding on, and we have only a few 2013 points coming in March, but want to secure our reservation ASAP.

Thanks for any advice.

Borrowing is a one way transaction. It cannot be undone. Just bank the new points when you get them.

If you are buying direct, talk to your Guide and make a deal.

There have been reports of DVC doing exactly what you describe in the past. I would discuss it with the guide first though.

But - if you are buying direct you can most likely book with those points before the end of any day you make the call so if you make the decision you could avoid any issue. (That never worked for me - one time it was almost 2 weeks before my direct purchase was loaded but I'm apparently one of the few that resale was almost faster! :rotfl:)

I thought there was something in the last member guidebook that said if you buy direct they will let you "unborrow" for a new reservation with the added points.
