DH and I are going to be celebrating our anniversary with a trip to a Disney, and we finally booked the other night for our April trip. I would like to possibly book a Wild Africa Trek tour for the two of us as a surprise (if there's any availability left during our stay). Do you have to pay the full amount when you book, or just put down a deposit? If you can pay later, does it get added to the total due on our vacation package? Like I said, I would want it to be a surprise and wouldn't want him to see the price hike on our balance. Finally, what is the cancellation policy? This is an experience that I'm sure we would both find magical, but I may be overly optimistic about paying an extra $400 on our vacation.

For everyone who has gone on a WAT, what did you think about your experience?

I just booked several tours today and it looks like they charged a 15% deposit or so. I would call and check: (407) 939-8687.

No experience with vacation packages, so I really can't say on this one. I remember being charged the balance on my credit card once we were within the 2-day cancellation window.

Finally, what is the cancellation policy?
From Disney's site: "You will forfeit the entire price of your tour if you no-show or cancel within 2 days of your reservation."

We did this a couple of years ago and loved it. We felt that it was well worth the money. I think that if you search on DIS you'll find several reviews. I don't remember reading about anyone who didn't enjoy it... but I could have missed a negative review here or there, I suppose... :)

I can't answer your question about adding to a package. We purchased the tour apart from our stay. I bought discounted Disney gift cards from BJ's (it's a small discount, but any savings are good) so we paid in full when I booked it.

Anyway...DH & I did the tour in '14 and had a great time. We have 4 other people in our group and it was a fun day. We enjoyed that we got closer to the animals, had more time in the different areas, the food was good, the CM's are fun and informative and the photos we got were awesome. We liked it so much that when we went the next summer, we did the tour with DD & DS. That time it was just our family. The "kids" (they will be 23 & 21) want to do it again this year-hope I get a bonus! I always recommend the tour when people ask. If you have more questions let me know.

Whenever we have booked a tour, including Wild Africa Trek, we have had to pay in full at the time of booking. Tours are not added on to package pricing.

Thanks for your help, everyone! I'll be sure to call on Monday to see what I can get worked out!
