Questions about booking a DCV ressie...

Hi all! We are seriously thinking about buying into DVC at AKL and after speaking to the DVC rep on the phone today, we found out that one of the current incentives is that DVC is matching points bought for both AKL and BLT that need to be used by 10/1/09. We just got back last night and do not plan to go again until 1/2010, so no trip before October. Now my question is this, if we buy our points with a December 1 use year, can we make a reservation for 1/2010 if our points do not go into out account until 12/1/09? Do the points have to be in there in order to make the ressie months in advance, or will they see that those points will go in and allow you to book? Are we going to be stuck in a situation that if we do not go by 10/1/2009 we will have to wait until the window opens up to make a ressie and we have points in our account if we want to go in the month of January? Those incentive points will have to be used by the given date, but if you bought this year, you should also be given the December 1, 2008 points which would have to be used ordinarily by November 30, 2009, but you could bank them and then they will have to be used by November 30, 2010. So for you January 2010 reservation, you will be able to use the banked points from this December.

You will be able to make that January 2010 reservation in February 2009 at the 11 month from check in day mark for your home resort. You do not have to wait until you have the points to book with the points.

Since you said you aren't going to be able to use the incentive points by Oct, why not wait for the incentive to change so you'll be able to take advantage of whatever it is? They change the incentive from time to time, and you get whatever it is at the time you buy. We bought this past summer, and our incentive points just had to be used by 1 year after our purchase date. We are going next month on incentive points, and next Thanksgiving on our 1st years use points. We are getting annual passes with the DVC discount, and using them for both trips.

...although I believe AKL per point price will be going up (to BLT level) after Jan 15. You would think DVC would offer greater AKL incentives to bring it back down, but they (DVC) do not seem to be making much sense right now, in this economy.
(increasing BLT new member min purchase to 200 and existing add-on to 100)

Also, it may be possible to rent out your developer point trip to get some extra cash...

I thought all the 2008 points for AKV were already gone? I was considering doing AKV just for the extra points that I would get this December but my guide told me that Kidani use years start Feb 09, and that Jambo points were gone (using the current Developer Points incentives).
