We are planning a long trip Nov '08 and would like to split the stay between BW and SSR. Our plan is at 7 months to try to get in at BW on 11/9(Sunday) for 5 nights. Since this would probably be the end of F&W and SS weekend, what would our chances be of getting this? Would you think maybe just that Sunday would be difficult?

Also, if you had a choice between B/P in a studio or standard in a 1 BR, which would you pick? Is it worth it for a preferred? What kind of view is the standard? It will only be DH and I so space is not really an issue.

TIA! :goodvibes

I also note that November 11 is Veterans Day in 2008. That is a Tuesday so I would anticipate many also taking off Monday and making a long weekend from Saturday through Tuesday.

That along with any other possibilities such as F&W may make it difficult to book BWV at 7 months.

If anything there is available I guarantee it will not be Standard nor Boardwalk View. Those are limited and sell out first.

I would make a ressie at SSR (home resort) as a backup at 11 months. Then try for BWV later on.

Good luck!

I DOUBT you'd get a standard or Boardwalk view. Anytime between October and Marathon weekend can be hard to book at BWV - especially standard and BW Views, but getting preferred views, if you are prompt about calling - those are sometimes available. You may need to waitlist for one or more nights.

Call right at seven months, you are most likely to get a preferred view. But my preference is generally, standard, then Boardwalk, than Preferred.

Standard view looks out over the front of the building and the drive.

Boardwalk View looks over the Boardwalk

Preferred View is the rest of the resort - approximately 60% of the resort looks over pools, the canal between the Swan and Dolphin, the croquet lawn, or some other view that isn't standard or preferred.

If you just want to try Boardwalk at some point in time, you'll have a lot more chance of success during a different time of year.

I was concerned getting a studio 4 months out at BWV. The weekend I arrive is an ESPN event and the National Dance and Cheer Competition is that week. I got a studio/preferred view for each night. Lucky me, this is in March! I don't think you will have an option on your room request. Boardwalk view and standard views are the first to go and probably won't be availible 7 months out. Saying that....who knows....you may get lucky. Who's going on the trip? Do you need a kitchen? Do you need a separate sleeping area? If no to the last two questions, I would go for the view!

I agree with the posts here. It will be very difficult to book this at the 7 month mark. Book SSR for the full vacation and try to swap at 7 months like one post said. This will be the time frame when we will finally be able to go back home. Can't wait.....

You may also be running into Jersey week crowds on your dates. Much as I adore BW view and book it every time, I would not trade a 1 bedroom for BW view. Book SSR and then call (and waitlist if necessary) right at 7 months for a 1 bedroom standard view at BWV. 1 bedrooms are actually the easiest size to book, so you might get lucky!

BW standard is about 20% of the resort, boardwalk preferred view is about 18%, the rest is preferred pool or garden view. Standard (because of points) and boardwalk (because it is the best view) tend to go with the 11 month window but sometimes can be found at 7. Pool and garden preferred is often fairly easy to get 7 months out. As a member there, I always get boardwalk view, but if I had to choose between a studio on the boardwalk and 1BR standard I would probably take the extra space -- the standard views really are not bad, I would definitely do so if the choice were between preferred pool/garden and standard.

That's definitely what our plan is. We don't want to chance not getting those dates. We'll cross our fingers.

Wow. Good question. I'd probably be able to make a better opinion after our December trip since it will be our first stay in a standard view at BWV. However, I'm waitlisted for a boardwalk view because it's hard to beat.

If points don't matter and space/kitchen isn't an issue (only two of you...no kids), then I'd pick boardwalk view. But I caution you...it's addictive.

If neither option is available, just waitlist for both (or all three) views and see what happens. You never know.

And yes, I think even preferred view is worth it. The location of the boardwalk is hard to beat.
