Questions about AAA tickets (free parking)

I just bought tickets today at AAA (and was a bit  to see that the prices went up). I bought 2 adult 2-day park hopper tickets. I bought them at AAA to get the free parking.

So, how does it work? We will have two cars going, so each car will have one ticket that shows the free parking on the back. Do we just hand that to the people at the parking garage? Is it valid each day? If we go to DLR in the morning and come back in the evening, is it still valid?

Not to hijack your thread, but I called my local AAA office today to buy two three day park hopper tickets and the agent told me that AAA doesn't sell the park hopper tickets. I have to get them through DL website or at the gate. Do only certain AAA offices sell these tickets?

Thanks in advance

Jamie

I'm not sure. I was able to just go up to the cashier and buy them. I had to show my membership card, but that was it. They don't sell one-day tickets, but sell everything from 2-day hoppers on up.

We have bought our 3 day park hoppers at AAA for years. This summer, most recently. I had thought only 3 day day park hoppers had free parking, but if your ticket says free parking at Mickey and Friends parking lot on the back, then it must. When you drive up to the parking ticket booth you just show him your ticket and he will look for the free parking note on the back. That's it.

Don't know if some AAAs don't sell them or if you just got someone who doesn't know. If it isn't too hard, you might want to stop in and check, or call a different AAA in another city.

Thanks! So, in theory, what would prevent someone from re-using the tickets over and over for free parking? Do they scan the ticket to know that you have used the admission?

We always buy our tickets through AAA. Our office is pretty small, so they order them for us and then send them in the mail or we can pick them up at the office. I was told by our agent that the old prices (before the price went up in August) would be in effect at AAA until the end of the year! I wanted to pay for them before the price increase and the agent assured me the hopper prices were't going up until after Jan 1. I paid anyway, just in case. I see the prices just went up on the disneyland.com website, too. Hmmmm...

ETA: I am pretty sure they do scan your ticket when you park.

Well, that's a good question. Maybe he scanned it and I didn't notice. :confused3

You know, I am just going by what I was told. We never take a car so I haven't used the parking thing myself! But if they didn't scan the ticket, you're right, how would they know whether or not you had used it up? Interesting!

Great that he knew his business about the prices, eh? ;)

Looks like the AAA offices in CA sell tickets (since the people on this thread who bought tix from AAA are all in CA). Something I learned when I moved from CA to WA is that California AAA is very very different from other AAAs. So what they do there can't be relied on for other states.

And from WDW AAA threads I've learned that even while taking CA out of the equation, what each office sells can be different from the next office.

AAA in WA sells them. You can order them online if you book a package as well.

Yes, they scan the card. I think you have the same 14 day limitation on it as you do for using all the days before your parkhopper expires. I am unsure if the know that you've used the max days on your pass or not, but I'd bet so.

Every ticket you buy will have the free parking on it. I would think you could have more than one vehicle as long as each vehicle had a different ticket.

Thank you for all the information. There are six of us going, two cars. Two of the tickets were purchased at AAA, so I'll make sure that one ticket is in each car to get the free parking for both cars.

If we leave during the day and go to the hotel and come back in the evening, I'm assuming that we can still use the free parking... Our hotel is 20 minutes away, so we'll definitely need to drive back and forth.

I too want to thank everyone for their responses. I am going to call my local AAA office again this morning and see if I get the same response. I may try another office in town.

Also thanks for the information on the parking, i was wondering the same things

Thanks again!

Jamie

You do get in and out privileges with the parking. Just show the CM the receipt you got when you first got in to the parking lot.
Also, they do not scan the AAA ticket at the parking entrance. Some will just look at the ticket and give you a receipt. Others will date stamp it. You can draw your conclusions from that on whether or not you can use it the AAA ticket over and over and over......:rolleyes1
