Questions regarding my August cruise.

1. Anyone else cruising on the 7th?

2. I, a single dad, will be cruising with my 5 year old daughter. I plan on getting to the port around 10:30 or 11:00. Is this a good time. I have read that the sooner you get on board the better. Can I drive up and drop off my bags and then go and park?

3. What has anyone else done while in Nassau with a 5 year old that they would recommend?

What about CC ?

4. My daughter is extremely independent so I do not worry about her not having a good time. What ship board activities does everyone recommend? Also, is this something that I need to sign her up for before the cruise or when we get aboard?

Sorry for all the questions but I am just trying to get all my ducks in a row before the cruise. I have ordered the Passporter and I am sure that this will be an excellent source of information but it is always good to hear from others that have been there.

2: I personally get there around 10am at the latest. I like being first in line. But still, at that time you will beat the DCL buses from WDW so you'll be ok.

3: Well, I don't have a 5 y/o but DW and I did the Ardastra Gardens tour which was a lot of fun. They have flamingo races, you can hold parrots, and get some really really great photos, plus it comes with a tour of the city.

I would recommend getting there closer to 10:00. Yes, you can drive up and leave your bags off at the curb. Someone will be there to help you and check them in.

In Nassau, you might both enjoy a visit to the Atlantis Resort on Paradise Island. A must-see in our opinion. You can observe, for free, several large tanks of fish off the main lobby, or, for a fee, enjoy a more extended tour of the aquarium. :fish:

Have a wonderful cruise and the best vacation ever. :boat:

We'll be cruising w/ you. This will be our 3rd 4 day. 1st time, in Nassau we did the glass bottom boat. DH and I weren't terribly impressed, but the kids enjoyed it alot. 2nd time in Nassau, we stayed on the ship with a short jaunt off for some shopping as we had an extra kid with us. This time will probably do the same.

On castaway cay we just enjoy lazing around on floats, having a few drinks and just relaxing.

Our kids are older than yours, 9, 12, and 17, but I'm sure your 5 yo will have tons of fun with and without you.

Have a great time. Can't wait till August.

Bode, just one thing I have seen discussed on here previously, and I want to be sure that you are aware of it. As a single parent, if the child's mother is still living, you will have to have a notarized form authorizing you to take your daughter out of the country. I know others on here can provide much more information, but I just wanted to ensure you had that piece of information.

Enjoy the trip. DW and I did the 4 last November and had a blast. You both will truly enjoy the ship and the sites!

I have to agree to get to the port asap. In the past we have been their by 10:30, but I have noticed lately more and more people being there at this time. I think in September we are going to try to be there around 10:00.

Your daughter will have a blast. The more she is involved in the Oceaneers Lab the better for the kids show on the last night. She needs to at least go for this, the children all get free t-shirts. My children enjoyed being with us more than going to the club, but they sure like their free shirt!

My son's favorite thing we have ever done as an excursion was the Sting Ray Beach Day, however, this is NOT for everyone. It can be quite scarey to a younger child. He ws 8 when he first did this excursion. If she likes the beach you can chose from several beach days. Just remember though in CC you will have a Beach day. Then you have the aquarium at Atlantis you can see.

CC for us is all about the beach. My children love to snorkel and ride the bikes. I like to find a quite shady place and read a book. The last time we were there the beaches were extremely crowded. Several people would come right in front of me and block my view of the children. I realize they have tot find a spot too, but the do not need to move others stuff and make a stop right in front of other people. Sorry that is my sore point at the beach. I think people are quite rude and do not even think or care about blocking another parents view.

I am sure you will have a great time. Just be on a Disney cruise is awesome and exciting.

Our kids enjoyed staying on the ship in Nassau. Pools were not as crowded and I think that is the day they made chocolate chip cookies in the Oceaneer's Club.
