Never been to either. I do have two kids (dd5 would like cinderella) but honestly Id like to go more with the place with the better food. WE have other character meals so I don't really care about that part. And does anyone know if cali grille is two ts credits??

California Grill takes 2 TS. I have been to 1900 Park Fare for breakfast and dinner...I would go for breakfast not dinner b/c the food was not really good but the character interaction was really great. I would not return to 1900 Park fare for dinner. We are going to try The Wave for our Dec trip. Hope this helps.

We love breakfast at 1900 Park Fare, but for dinner I'd go with The Wave.

If you don't care about the character interaction I would do The Wave although I haven't been there. We went to 1900 and I don't have a huge desire to go back but am glad I tried it. I didn't think the food was horrible but it wasn't great. We had so so character interaction until we met Drizella. She was a riot. I think we just got lucky. The wait for 1900 was the worst. They mixed up our pager. I have read on other posts that other people have had the same problem.

Happy planning!

I have been to both and hands down THE WAVE is great. Park Fare was hectic and the food(had breakfast) and it was ok at best. btw went to dinner at the Wave.

I was at both last week; 1900 and The Wave with kids. By far we all liked 1900 better. We found our food at The Wave horrible. The service was slow and it was so cold in there that our food became cold very quickly. It was just as loud as 1900 too.

The portions of food are very small at The Wave. Different kind of tasting food. If you have children who like "different" tastes, go for it. But, if you have kids who like standard food, go to 1900. However, our top pick is CG at 2 TS. We all enjoyed this last year. The food is the best there.

Here is another vote for the Wave. We've done both (loved 1900 too!) but the Wave as more of a dinner out adult atmosphere. We really enjoyed as we brought a first timer. It was very relaxing and quiet even though it is a big open dining room.

Our server was a little slow getting our drinks but other than that she was wonderful! I have a big PICKY eater 12 yo son. I asked if he can shoose something off of the kids menu. She said "Lets have a look at the regular menu and see what we can do for him". She suggested the beef filet without any sauce etc. She said it is a 6 ounce piece of meat which sounds small at first but it wasnt. It was 100% edible, with no waste, of delicious filet. ( I know because I ordered the same thing) My son said it was the best steak he ever ate! DH had the lamb shank which was fabulous, he ate every last morsel. DM had the fish of the day, delicious. DSF had the flank steak and this too was delish.

We are food lovers and can eat plenty. Nobody left hungry. The bread was awesome and the desserts were perfect!!!

Just a note: the night before at Wolf Gang Puck Cafe we ordered appetizers too. While delicious it was just too much food. This is why we skipped appys at The Wave.

Enjoy your trip!

Keep reading bad reviews on the dinner here...is the charaacter interaction worth it? Is the food that bad?

I'm curious too....we have a ressie in 2 weeks and it is the one place I keep 2d guessing:confused3

The interaction is so much fun - the step sisters are hilarious. The food - it was just ehh. Nothing was horrible but nothing was memorable. We basically wanted to see the step sisters and they made it worth it.

I enjoyed the food :) The strawberry soup....yummm!!

The character interaction was really great. They fussed over us and the sisters and step mother are really great!!!

I booked it again this Dec as our anniversary dinner.

Its usually on our favorite list! It's typical WDW buffet food with a few favorites like the chilled strawberry soup and mushroom ravoli.

We went last September. We thought the food was good (not great). We thought the character interaction was fantastic. We would definitely do it again.

We went last year and really enjoyed the food and the characters (though my 4 year old wanted nothing to do with the evil step-mother). My only issue with them was that we had to wait about 45 minutes past our ADR and that was no fun. We are planning to go back there this month, though. I'd say it's a worthwhile meal!

This is by far one of our favorite meals. (Have done it for dinner the last three trips!)
On 9/02 we did my Neices actual 5th birthday here and it was fabulous.
The characters were awesome and the food even though it nothing to write home about does have some good dishes and at least the hot food is hot and the cold food is cold.
If all they served was the Chilled strawberry soup I would be okay!!!

The characters are worth it.
The ugly stepsisters are hilarious!
I thought the food was so so.
And the decor reminds me of any hotel ballroom.
But again, the best character interaction so far (Akusha's Storybook or Crystal Palace). They really try to engage the diners & put on an act.
And the food is better than Spirit of Aloha, but no free wine.

We are not gourmet food people. We like Red Lobster, Olive Garden, heck - Burger King. And we enjoyed our meal at 1900 Park Fare. The food was hot, flavored well, etc. It won't win awards - but it certainly was not gross the night we were there.

The character interaction was one of the best we had while there. The sisters made a point to do something "unique" at each table. Weather it was trying to buy someone's dress, or marry your son, etc. AT our table they fought over who my DDs liked the most - and asked them (my DDs) to sing with them. The table by us a man tried to buy Drizella - and what followed was hilarious.

Watching Cinderella & Prince Charming dance was very sweet & magical. The Tremaines were a hoot. It is worth going back to us.

I was just at this meal a few days ago. Unfortunately I think this is going to be a hit or miss. I was so looking forward to this meal just for the character interaction. The step mother we had was HORRIBLE! It was like she was sleeping. Cinderella and the Prince were just ok. But the step sisters were good. At one point someone dropped a plate and made a very load noise, within a second Drizella yells out "Cinderella clean that up"! That was the funniest moment. The food was mediocre. The strawberry soup that everyone raves about takes like a strawberry smoothie from a yogurt shop.

We had better interactions with the step sisters and step mother at the Magic Kingdom. They do a photo op at the Belle storybook area in the afternoon. Go find them there.

We tried 1900 PF this year and enjoyed it. Character interaction was fantastic, food was usual WDW buffet fare. Look forward to going back again next year.
