I was wondering what some of you wonderful people thought of the character breakfast at 1900 Park Fare. My family usually isn't up to character meals, but I just adore Alice in Wonderland and Mary Poppins, and I thought it would be a fun way to get a picture with them. Plus, any reason to have to go to the Grand Floridian is a plus in our book. ;) My main question is this: is the buffet any good? I've heard rants and raves about some of the other buffet meals. Is this one any better or any worse than, say, Chef Mickey's or Crystal Palace?

And if anyone had some pictures to share from their experiences there I would adore you forever. :flower3:

Thanks so much! :wizard:

We enjoy the breakfast, characters are Pooh & Tigger, Alice and the Mad Hatter, with Mary Poppins in the lobby. I'd check my dates though, it is going down for refurbishment in the next few months and moving to GF Cafe, where it will be a plated meal. That may change the dynamic for you, although we enjoyed the pre plated meal at 'Ohana for breakfast. It's Lilo, Stitch, Mickey and Pluto.

Thanks for all the info! We're heading down to the World on Sunday, and we were hoping to make a last minute reservation before we left. If we don't get in then, we're heading back in October for MNSSHP, and we'll make ADR's for then. I'll have to check on the refurbishment dates. But again, thanks for the info! :thumbsup2

It's not refurbishing till later this summer, I know I have a reservation for next month and it's fine. Enjoy! It's fun but a little loud. (what character meal isn't?)

Could you pass on any other information regarding the changes?? Where you heard about it (allears?) date when it will reopen?? menu?? ect...

We were going to try it for breakfast in October. I need to make the ARD's shorty.

Thanks for your help!

From the closings/rehabs page on the DIS:

Disney's Grand Floridian
1900 Park Fare will be closed for refurbishment from July 9 thru October 1. During this time, the Grand Floridian Cafe will be hosting the Character meals. (Lunch at the Cafe is temporarily discontinued)

I can't remember exactly where I heard that it's plated, think it was on the Restaurant Board here.

I made reservations for this for this August and was told the location has changed but everything else is the same. I asked if it is a buffet and was told definately. I hope it's true because my family loves the buffet.

We went to this last March on dd's 5th b.day. This was her choice of character meal for her b.day as she was just dying to meet Mary Poppins. She was outside of the restaurant and we did have to wait about 15 mins or so after our breakfast was over to see her, but it was worth the wait. The girls had her to themselves and she was very friendly with them.

The breakfast was really good. I think I like it better than the dinner with Cinderella (at least year that meal wasn't so great for the price). Anyways, Alice was AWESOME, especially with my littlest one who was only 2.5 yrs old last year and afraid of non-face characters. The restaurant wasn't full and we had the characters come around at least three times for some of them.

Tigger scared the younger one, but had fun buffing my dad's bald head :lmao: My poor dad is pretty quiet and not one to be centred out, but he had fun for the sake of the girls ;) . Pooh brought Julia her cupcake and tried to put the crown on her head ... hard for Pooh!!! The Madhatter was weird, but I suppose that is the actual character, so he was very good at portraying it!!

I would have liked to have gone this year, but dd chose Chef Mickey's for her b.day instead. (Her b.day always falls on the March Break when we travel there). Maybe next year we will go again. The food was good :) Although they need more variety in their desserts (at dinner time too).

Hey,

Thanks much for the link!!

When I call for my ADR's I'll have to remember to ask if it will be reopening as a buffet. We like to sample at least one each trip.

My DD8 is a picky eater however she is the "macaroni and cheese queen of the universe" and not the good homemade kind either strictly Kraft . But with a buffet there is hope she might broaden her horizons and try something new!
Of couse I put some zuccinni on her plate tonight at dinner well, I thought she'd die of shock!:scared: She did eat it, though, I wonder if it was worth all the drama!

Plus, I believe we have tried all the other character buffets except the one at AK, Donald's something or another has anyone tried it recently?

Thanks
