I am a DVC owner and want to go on a cruise next June 2020 but will not have enough points for 5 people/ 1 bedroom with veranda. So my question is this: can I purchase/transfer enough points over the next few months a little at a time. I see some for purchase/transfer a few like 30, 20, 40 etc. Can I get a few at a time. will need about 500 altogether. I will have to make sure the use year is at least July 2020. Is this possible?

Did you know that you only have to book 1 adult per cabin on points? You can pay for the others with cash. It's almost certainly less expensive to do that than pay for transferred points.

You could also book as many people on points as you have, and then pay for the rest of the travelers with cash. Each person must be paid for with all points or all cash. You can't mix points and cash for the same person. MS can tell you more.

P.S. You may only transfer points once per use year, either into your account or out of it. You won't be able to transfer a few at a time or from multiple owners during the same use year.

Compare the cash cost to the points cost. Typically you will find DVC only credits about $6 a point towards a cruise. It's usually better, financially' to rent your points and book cash.

Like previous posters have mentioned using points for things such as cruises or ABD is a very poor value. I priced out an ABD once and compared the points needed to the actual cost of paying cash. I was blown away with how much more expensive it was to use the points. So if you need the cash to pay for the cruise - book your one adult and then put your extra points up for rent or transfer- this way you will make about $17-18 per point.

As mentioned, that isn't possible. You can only transfer in or out 1 time each UY so no possibility of multiple small transfers like that. But also, paying cash will probably be more cost effective anyway. Even renting out your own points and paying cash for everyone is likely to end up meaning less cash out of pocket since using points for cruises usually isn't as efficient as paying cash.
