Curious as to when they charge your credit card if you use it with your room key.. Is it each transaction or is it at the end of your stay?? Thank you for helping me ahead of time

For us, and we go a few times a year, they seem to charge our credit card (AMEX) when we reach $300-400 in transactions. When we check out, I find two or three (depending how much we spent!) lump charges on my invoice...

They won't charge your card until the end unless you reach a certain limit (I think Poppins is right that it's around $400) but the CM told us the "limit" before they charged our card when we checked in at our resort.

They charge your account when you hit $500 at a Value resort, $1000 at a moderate, or $1500 at a Deluxe....which for us means it gets charged at the end of our stay because we never come close to that.

Thanks alot for the help.. god we love this site.. Helps with so many questions

wrong, but I thought they put a hold on a portion of your card. The amounts, as listed above vary by level of resort. The hold, if I understand correctly, blocks out that much of your credit card limit but doesn't in any way obligate you at that time. It just gives Disney access to at most that amount of money when they close out.

We actually had a three night stay at a value resort three years ago and exceeded our limit. It actually happened when we charged our Crystal Palace dinner, but they didn't stop that charge. A little later my wife was charging a tee shirt at POTC and they wouldn't process it. The manager was gracious enough to take us to a side register not in use and call the resort to have more money placed on our account. She processed our purchase there instead of holding up the line. I'm grateful for that type of customer service at Disney or anywhere.

I don't think they put a hold on your charge account. I think they just swipe the card to see if it is a valid card. As PP, each resort has lmiits that you can charge but they will either process the charges when you hit that amount or you can ask them to put the bill through and start over again if you know you are going to be using your card and are near the limit.
