I have a question we are planning to go to DW in may 09 after the kids get out of school for 10 days. What are the crowds like then. I think most kids are still is school right? Does most schools let out in July. It will be our big family trip after my DH gets back from a 15 month long tour in Kuwait and we want it to be a stress free relaxing trip for him.

schools here get out at the end of May or 1st of June.

I am pretty sure most school districts get out at the end of May, especially with so many starting in August these days. I would expect it to be very crowded as many will want to beat the hottest months. But, you can still have fun if you make good use of Fast Passes, make all your ADRs early, etc. and try to avoid special events. We have gone in peak season and still seen everything we wanted to.

maybe we will go in April after testing. I just wish I knew schedules for then. schools and when my husband will get back from deployment.:confused3

Schools up north get out the middle to end of June and go back in early Sept. The schools down south end in May and start up again the middle/end of August.
We went down to WDW about 9 yrs during the first week in May and it wasn't as crowded as it is during the summer. The weather is great for swimming and not too hot for the theme parks. We have also gone in the beginning of April. As long as it is not during Easter week, the crowds are definitely less. We did find it too cold to go swimming, though. So it depends on what you're looking for. Also, I woud definitely have an itinerary done beforehand with all your ADR's in place.
Have a wonderful & magical trip!
Also, we send many thanks to your husband for his service - may God Bless him and your family!!

I live in Indiana. Our school system lets out just before Memorial Day, be we are earlier than most other Indiana schools. This year we went just after Memorial Day through the first week of June. The crowds were not bad at all. Most non-FastPass waits were 10-20 minutes at most (Dumbo being the exception...40 minutes). Many rides we just walked right onto. Weather wasn't bad at all, and it only rained 2 evenings/nights (one was when a tropical storm went through, but it started as we were headed back to our room for the night and was done before we got up the next morning). We did notice the crowds increasing by the end of our stay (June 7), but not massively. There were tons of lovebugs around at the beginning of our stay, but drastically dropped off by about the middle of our time there. Personally, I thought it was a great time to go. :thumbsup2
