My family just returned from WDW. This is my question: Why do parents allow their children to run buck-wild through the park?

I can not count on both hands the number of times a child ran, not walked, into a member of my family.

After watching some of the adults there, I shouldn't be surprised at the way the kids act.

Other then this issue, we had a great trip.

Well I don't know if my son went "buck wild" but there were times he got really excited by something or distracted by something and bumped into someone. He always said sorry or excuse me and everyone seemed ok with that. In defense of the kids, it really isn't their fault. That fault lies with the parents. The parents need to maintain control over their kids. But I just always assume I will be bumped into on more than one occassion. It happens. There are tons of people all going in different directions and they are not going to be focused on the path in front of them 100% of the time. Also, kids will be kids. I remember going nuts the first time I went to Disneyland. Everything really will be fine. Take it with a grain of salt and enjoy the rest of your vacation! :)

I agree that if kids are running wild & doing things to other people on purpose & not saying sorry, then the blame should be on the parents for not controling them.

Just pulling up an easy chair, this thread has potential. . .

In crowded areas, my guys always hold our hands. We don't want them to get lost! My husband and I even have a little system. When leaving a parade or going into an area that looks crowded, I will say, "I've got the little guy, you've got the big guy." That way, there's less chance of having to say, "I thought you had him!"

We keep our kids close for their own safety and to keep them annoying others. Both our guys are dreamers and can easily forget to watch where they're going if they see something interesting. I also never let them run in public areas. It's just not safe for anyone! I agree that many parents are not diligent enough about watching their kids. If a kid is doing something with blatent disregard, I have been known to say, "Does your mother let you do that?" Usually I get a sheepish look and they slink away to find their parents! :lmao:

I couldn't agree more!!!!! I think if their kids are running all over the place, maybe they need to watch them a little bit more closely! I don't leave my son out of my site in a public place. My husband is a State Trooper, so I have heard horror stories, there are too many wackos out there to take the chance. It's not a dress rehersal people, it only takes one time, and to me it's not worth taking the chance!
