This is my first post (but have been lurking and gaining TONS on info-thank you all!) here so please bear with me if I manage to make some unknowing faux pas. I have booked our Disney trip at ASMu from Sept 22-28 and purchased 6 day park tickets. It is quite possible that before our trip, we may be relocating to Jacksonville, FL. In that case, we would like to buy APs. I have read here on the boards that there is no problem with transferring the value of the park tickets to the purchase of the AP at the parks.

I booked our vacation with a travel agency that specializes in Disney vacations, mostly for a little help with ADRs. I asked her if, in fact, we could apply the value of the park tickets to APs. Her reply was, "My "advisor" told me that because it is part of a Walt Disney Travel Company package, they would not convert your tickets. I will double check with Disney, but she has been doing this for many years and tends to be right about most things pertaining to Disney." Her next e-mail said the following: "I did ask the agent to go back to your reservation and address the question. She said that my co worker was correct and that you would not be able to transfer the value into an annual pass, but that you could go back and change the number of days on your ticket to just one."

Is this the case because I booked with a travel agent and not with Disney directly? Anyone have any insight on this or who to call within Disney to verify?

Thanks for helping a newbie!

Technically, that reply was accurate depending on who the word "they" was referring to. The ticket booths where you purchase Annual Passes will, but travel agents and the WDTC will not.

If after you recieve your tickets you should be able to go to the ticket booth and upgrade them to AP's

You can upgrade them at the ticket booths at the park or at DTD. You have 14 days from the day you first use the tickets to do so.:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

You can upgrade your tickets at Guest Sevices at one on the parks. We did the exact same thing.

We had puchased our "package" throught AAA. We had 7 day park hoppers. We also had the dining plan. I did not upgrade the tickets before I used them as we never had time. On the seventh day already inside the MK, I went to Guest Services and explained what I wanted to do. They knew exactly what I needed and even assured me that there would be no disruption with my dining credits.

Guest Services removed the tickets from my room key and gave me seperate paper annual passes all set to go. There was no problems with my dining credits at all.

You should have no problems upgrading. Talk to the CM at Guest Services, (we were at the MK), they were wonderful in assuring me that they do it all the time and it would be an easy transaction to complete.

Enjoy your vacation!

Thank you all for your replies. My mind is much more at ease now! I think it's kind of funny that I can get more accurate information from the Dis boards than from a travel agent that "specializes" in Disney vacations and CMs themselves! I appreciate everyone here who has shared their knowledge and experiences!
