I have a quick question that I know many of you will be able to help with:goodvibes

I plan on ordering my wedding licence online and obtaining it through the mail. My question is do I need to send this to the reverand prior to my wedding or do I give it to him on the day of our marriage? I realise that it is valid for 60 days but I realised I don't really know what I'm supposed to do with it:confused3 . Maybe some UK brides could also help me out? Is there anything else I need to know, like forms of ID I require etc...?

we are ordering our through brevard county clerk!!! i am not sure of forms of id you would need being from the Uk sorry!!! i do know that you can give it to your officiant the day of the wedding;) we are using rev jack and he sai just to give it to him that day!!! GL

Sorry I'm not much help either, Im just subscribing because Im from the uk 2 and I have no idea what I'm doing! :rotfl:

I ordered mine through a wedding for you inc. They take it to the courthouse to get the licence and fex ex it over to you to be signed and notarised.
I was lucky and knew someone who could notarise it for free otherwise a notary costs around £70 in addition to the licence costs. You then need to fed ex it back to the company who take it to the courthouse to get the actual licence. They then ship it back to you in the UK. You then keep hold of it and give it to Rev Jack on the day. I gave mine to my wedding planner who took care of it for me.

Thanks Laura

How exactly do I do this? Do I have to find someone in Scotland to notarise this for me? Do you think it would be easier to go to the courthouse when I get there?, it sounds like it may be cheaper to.

I can't help with the uk thing but I know my planner mentioned that I would be giving it to her!

Before i realised i knew someone that was a registered notary i looked into finding a local one - www.thenotariessociety.org.uk.
Not sure if it covers scotland though.

The guy i phoned said he would just come to our house and do it.

Its pretty stright forward and simple, the reason we did it was because we didnt have a car and we only had 1 day in which we could go and do it so we thought this would save time.

we picked ours up from the courthouse. Was pretty simple. The taxi fare bumped up the price though.

If you dont mind, How much did it cost you in the taxi? And what documents did you have to bring with you? Also what did you do when you got back to england? did you have to get anything done in england to prove you were legally married, A friend of mine asked the other day and Im not sure what the procedure is when you get married in another country. Thanks in advance! :goodvibes

If we pick up the wedding licence when we get there, is it simple enough? I assume you need your passport, but what else would I need? I assume there is also a notary to sign it there for you and it doesn't cost any extra, I looked into getting someone to sign it here and it would cost an extra £90 ($170) just for the signature not to mention the fedexing it back and forth, it sounds like it may be easier to just get it when we arrive, I was thinking of getting it the day we arrive, does anyone know where the nearest courthouse is to Disney and how much a cab would cost?

Thanks

No it has to be an official notary! As i said i was fortunate to know someone who could do it! Im not sure if solicitors are able to do it or not?

The other thing that swayed me was the fact that i arrived on a sat and the wedding was on tuesday, so i would have only been able to go on the monday to get the licence.
