Question regarding the drive from San Diego to DLR?

We are flying into San Diego on Tue 8/4 and will be arriving around 11:50AM. We will be driving up to DLR right from the airport. Assuming it takes around an hour to get our luggage and pickup the rental car, we should be on the road by 1:00 or 1:15. How will traffic be on I-5 at that time of the day?

Should be decent. Be sure to get on the road before rush hour though...

And I assume you know this, but I'll mention it anyway, there are airports that are much closer to DLR, e.g. SNA, LGB, and LAX. I'm guessing you got a great fare to San Diego or SD fits well into a larger travel plan...

Leaving at that time on a Tuesday, you should be fine. You'll get to DLR just as traffic begins, so you should miss pretty much all of it.

That time of day, I'd say about 1.5 to 1.75 hours. Should be able to avoid most traffic and use car pool. If, however, your flight comes in an hour or more late, you could be sitting in bumper to bumper traffic up I5 from the airport through to Oceanside, but then it will likely be pretty open.
