Question regarding Spring Discounts

So, currently I am booked at the the Art of Animation for May 14-19th. So, I was playing around with the spring offers, and I saw that the Coronado is 25% off. But I thought those were room only?

But when I apply tickets and a dining plan, ultimately making it a package, the website still keeps the discount. Am I mistaken that this would be the correct price? Basically I am bringing up ~$2,069, which is actually twenty dollars cheaper than my current reservation. It's just that I thought that the minute you add a dining plan and tickets to it, the price goes back to rack rate. I mean, I would love if that was indeed the right price. I always wanted to stay at Coronado.

There was both a room only discount and a room/ticket discount.

Okay that helps a bit. But if I add a dining plan, will the discounts still apply?

Yes. You just have to be sure to book it under the Special offers section of the website. We have a %off room + discounted tickets + dining plan for May.:)

Room + tickets + dining plan would be a package, but you can have a discount on the room rate portion of the package because you're paying for the dining plan. Room rate will go up to rack rate if the package includes a free dining offer.

We often book with a room discount and paid dining plan.

As the PP said, you will have to book the Spring offer under the Special offers section.

When I called a few weeks ago about putting the Spring discount onto my existed reservation the lady told me I could not because we booked a package. Is this not true?

We have a AP package because we do not need tickets, but we have a dining plan. Was she just confused? I thought it seemed odd...that it is basically a room only reservation and we happened to also get a dining plan. Couldn't I have booked the rooms with a discount and added the dining plan later?

Of course, I thought the lady was completely unhelpful, as at the time I didn't have the code for the Spring discount and she acted like she didn't know what I was talking about, and then when I asked about the AP discount she said I already had it...but everything I read shows that the AP discounts for April haven't been released yet! And the price we have on our reservation is only 9% off what booking a new identical reservation, and usually the AP discount is closer to 30%.

Should I call back and speak to someone else about getting the Spring discount on my existing reservation or was she correct that I am not eligible?
(the AP discount would be better - but it hasn't been released yet and there's a rumor it might not be until March - which is after our bill is due!)

The spring offer can be booked two ways:

1. as a room-only offer, subject to room-only booking rules.

2. as a package, which must include tickets (which are discounted with this package). If you do this, you are subject to package booking rules. You can add a dining plan (at full price) to the package if you wish.

Since you have an AP, the package version won't work for you. The package must include tickets, which you don't need.

Absolutely call back - the first time I called about the Spring discount, the CM didn't know about the discount and when I told her the code to type in she was all surprised. I called back later and got a far more knowledgeable CM who tried a few different codes and room/resort options and got me a much bigger discount.

You can't put it on an AP package. AP packages allow you to get the DP without purchasing tickets. You can't put the spring discount on there and keep your DP without tickets. It has to be 'classified' as an AP package to do that.

AP discounts are only going through March right now - she probably didn't realize there is a rack rate AP booking.
