question regarding renting points

Hello, I am a DVC member and have a question. We have our vacation booked through the club for May 4th. Staying in a 1 bedroom at OKW. We decided to stay an extra day but didnt have enough points so we booked one night paying cash. They are charging us $281.25 for the one night. Now I read that I could have rented points from this board on a average of $10.00 a point, which I would need 15 points for the 1 night at OKW. My question is, do you think it is to late to rent the 15 points and use them for my upcoming vacation? I would need the points for May 4th for a 1 bedroom suite at the OKW. If I can rent these points from someone, can I cancel my Cash reservation and make the same reservation using the rented points? How would this work? Any information would be helpful. It would same me about 1/2 on the cost of the room.

Wow, I went on the DVC site to see how much the 1 bedroom suite would be for May 4th for the one night I needed, they want 48 points for that one night. When I originally made my reservations for the 4 nights, May 5th - May 8th, I was only charged 60 points for all 4 nights. I cannot believe they want 48 points for 1 night. Well I will just pay the 281.25 cash rate, it will be cheaper to pay cash than to rent the 48 points needed for the 1 night.

Are you short 15 points? A 1 bedroom is 48 points for May 4 at OKW (I noticed this because I'm also arriving May 4 in a 1 bedroom). To rent only 15 points, you would need to find someone who can transfer the points to your account (members are only allowed 1 transfer per use year), so that you could combine them with your points to make the reservation. Otherwise, you would have to rent the full 48 points so the other member can reserve the room for you for that night. There would also have to be DVC availability for that night (which is separate from cash availability). You got a good rate at $281, you might want to save your points because it's actually less than $6 per point ($281/48).

**Just saw your second post. Friday and Saturday nights are more than double points.

You are right on the one night being 48 points. Silly me thought that the one night was only 15 points cause I booked my vacation from May 5th through May 8th and it was only 60 points for those 3 nights. But it must be because of it being a Saturday 1 night stay, it is more points. I will just pay the 281.00.

Friday and Saturday nights are 48/night, Sunday to Thursday are 20/night. Those weekend nights are high! We arrive Saturday and checkout Friday so that we only have 1 weekend night (need a Saturday night for airfare). 27 days to go!

You are also staying in a 1 bedroom at OKW on May 4th? Looks like we will be there the same time. Have you ever stayed at OKW, this is the first time for us. I am really looking forward to it. Well maybe we will run into eachother.

Yes, my mom and I will be there May 4 to 10. We went Mother's Day weekend the past 2 years, but this year are going a week earlier since my mom's AP expires May 12. Mine expired in February so I have a voucher for a new one.

We like OKW in May because this is a more laid back trip and it's easier to come and go at OKW than at BWV (we rent a car). We spend more time in the room than our December trip at BWV, so the extra room is nice. I'm sure you'll love it too.
