Question regarding renting / ME / transfers

I THINK this is the right place to post.

I am thinking about planning a trip for the end of February '08 and renting points for a BC studio (if possible) for a Sun - Thu. The question I have is if I book one night at a mod or value paying cash ... will Disney move us to BC?

Also - can we still use ME .. arriving at the paying hotel - then leaving from BC?

This is seeming to be the most economical way to do things at this point. Originally we were going to be going to FW and camp for my 50th .. but now DH has a new job and won't have the time. It will just be my 18 yo DS and me...

Yes, Disney will transfer your luggage from one Disney resort to another--doesn't matter whether you're paying cash or using points (and as far as I can tell, they never check to see if you own the points you're using or if you're someone else's guest (renting)--and it really doesn't matter for transferring (or any other reason, for that matter)...There is no charge (except for tips) ... you simply call bell services to come pick up your luggage (you have to be there when they come, or you can take your luggage to them)...tell them which resort to transfer the luggage to...all transferred luggage is delivered between 1 and 3 in the afternoon...you must be in your room for the new resort to deliver your luggage and how long that takes depends on how busy bell services is at the time you call for delivery...I've had it take only minutes, and as long as 1/2 hour...you do tip the bell people on both ends (or at least I did, and they did seem to expect it)...it's pretty easy and painless, although you do have to "go without" your luggage til it's delivered some time after 3 on the day you transfer; and you have to be present when your luggage is picked up and again when it is delivered.

To get yourselves to the new resort, simply take Disney transportation...depending on which resort you start at, bus or boat to either Epcot or MGM (or any park for that matter)...If you go to Epcot, walk around Future World toward the World Showcase to the International Gateway...go thru the gate and you're "right there" at BC...the main lobby is a short walk past the Inn "wings"...or you can take a boat if you are in the mood for a boat ride...if you go to MGM, you can walk (about a 20-minute walk) to BC, or you can take a boat to the dock that's mid-way between BC and YC lobbies...if you go to Animal Kingdom or Magic Kingdom you can take a bus straight to the BC, or the monorail to Epcot (from MK) and then walk, as described above...which is best depends on how you're planning to spend the day on the day you transfer...

And yes, you can use ME to go from the airport to the value/mod you choose on arrival day, and from the BC on departure day...it's very easy...just tell the ME folks and they make all the adjustments in their computers...all you need is your reservation number (or I think they can track it by phone number, too...but they prefer the reservation number)...
