Hi! Everyone. We are coming back to Fort Wilderness for the first time in 4 years next June. We love to camp but usually stay at Value Resorts at Disney just because we spend so little time at the resort. However, trying to save money next year we are going to try camping at Disney again for the lower rate and so we can eat more meals in the camper. I have reserved a preferred site but looking at the info here it seems I might need to go with a premium. As much as I hate it because we are trying to save money I know we will not be renting a golf cart. So finally my question is if we want to be within walking distance of the pool, campfire and trading post do we need a premium site, from looking on the map it appears that way to me.

It is really not that bad of a walk from any of the loops. We stayed in 1900 and 1600 the last couple of times, about a 6 minute walk. From the partial hook up it was only a 10 minute walk. I enjoy the walk. It gives me a chance to see other campers, get a little exercise and enjoy Fort Wilderness.

From what we understand the "preferred loops" will be 100, 200, and 300, so a preferred will be about as close to the marina as you can get.

They "just" started renovating Loop 1000 last week, and until they do more we really have no way of knowing if entire loops are going to be converted or if just some sites in each of the loops will be converted.
