I'm posting here because I think DVC members (aside from FL residents) are probably the biggest holders of AP's.

Right now I have (5) Park Hopper passes and 2 days left on anothre set of 5 Park Hoppers. Could I trade them in for AP's???

Anyone know the monetary difference? Thanks

Also, is it true that AP's begin the day you first use them or is it the day you purchase them??????

Here's a DIS link to ticket prices:

http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/tickets.htm

You can upgrade an unused hopper ticket to an annual pass by paying the difference between what you originally paid for the hopper and the current price of the AP. You can only do this at the parks or Downtown Disney. Your year will begin on the day that you do the upgrade. I do not know if you can apply the value of more than one hopper to a single AP or PAP. Reports on this are mixed. (Like many things Disney, it appears to depend on the CM).

When you purchase an AP or PAP at the parks, DD or the Disney Store at MCO, you receive the actual pass. Your year begins on the day you purchase it. If you purchase online, over the phone or at one of the other Disney Stores, you recieve a voucher. The voucher must be exchanged for the actual pass at one of the parks or DD. The year begins the day you exchange the voucher - usually the first day you use the pass.

HTH some.

Thanks I found it very helpful. It sounds as though I should wait until we go in August to do any conversions to AP.

Anyone ever do this???

Thanks for asking the same questions I have!! I have a couple of Park Hopper Plus passes from last year. This year we're getting AP's 'cause I have two trips in one year planned. And I thought someone had indicated that you could in fact, turn in the old ones and get a credit on the new ones. Please let me know when you get back in August how it goes. We'll be there in Oct. I had planned to wait until we get there to do this.

About 2 years ago I brought some 8 year old Park Hopper passes each with 3 days left on them and bought Annual Passes. The credit that I received was the current ticket price (for the 3 days left), not the original, 8 year old price. I don't know if this was a mistake or not, but I was really surprised.

It may have been lost in the information above. You get the value of what you paid, not what it current costs. If you want AP, just keep the other tickets for future use, you'll be better off in the long run unless you just bought them and there were no price increases since, .......fat chance.
