Question regarding May/Jun 2011 or Oct 2011

I'm in the beginning stages of a resale for AKL (hopefully closing by 11/1/10). I want to plan a trip to AKL for either late May for 2 weeks or the beginning of Oct 2011 (2 weeks), how hard will it be get a 1 bedroom value or 1 bedroom standard during either times of the year? Will getting a 1 bedroom value or standard be out of the question for May/June since I would be able to call probably around mid November if my resale goes through? Any help will be appreciated.

Obviously, if you call in November, 11 months out for Oct 2011, you should easily be able to get whatever you want in Oct 2011. As for May/June 2011, and assuming you would be calling about 6 months out, value is likely to be difficult because there are so few of them and demand is fairly high because of low point cost. Standard has better chance of success. Seeking two straight weeks, however, creates high risk that some nights may be filled when calling 6 to 6 1/2 months out particularly since you will be seeking time around Memorial Day.

We typically go during May and stay in a one-bedroom -- usually at OKW, once at BCV. We rarely call before January and have never had a problem getting a reservation. Of course, AKV will be different.

If you have a problem, I think it will be a problem getting a particular room (like a value 1BR) for a two-week period. However, you won't know until you try.

And if you can't get everything you want, get what you can with what you want most and then try for something else at another resort or type of villa. For example, you might be able to get 5 days at AKV and 9 at OKW or SSR. With a trip that long, a split stay might have several advantages.

Thanks for the info. I didn't realize that it would be Memorial Day weekend. Would it make it really difficult to get other resorts because of the Memorial Day weekend and because I would be calling about 6 to 6 1/2 mos. out? Sorry for the dumb questions.

Memorial Day weekend is not one of the busiest holidays since many schools are still in session. My guess is that you will be able to get a room someplace and very likely an AKV Standard view. You might want to be prepared to do a split stay just in case. Or at least to book that and then waitlist for a stay that is all one place.
