When you contact a resort regarding room preferences either via e-mail or fax do they usually respond back? Acknowledge your request?

No they don't respond back. If you have any requests you should call reservations and have your requests noted in your reservation. Most resorts are ignoring faxes so calling reservations is the way to go. Just keep in mind it is only a request and you will have a great time.

1) Trust TheRustyScupper.
2) It never hurts to fax the resort 4-5 days in advance.

Follow safetymom's advice, she has lots of experience - I trusted the process, and well, OK fine, I admit it, I called the CRO several times, and a few days before I called to make sure they noted my mom's birthday was arrival day - also, when I got my confirmation papers, at the upper right my requests were noted (non smoking, a POR mansion preference, as well as adjoining rooms ) all my requests were met!! (and then some!!)
