Hi Gang

Just a few questions....

1. Do you have to stay at a Disney resort to actually get discount codes sent to you?

2. I'm from Canada. Does Disney send discounts to guests from Canada?

3. Do I have to sign up to get Disney discounts?

We stayed at the Contemporary in 2000 and then the Swan in 2003. I've never recieved anything from Disney regarding discounts at the resorts. I'd love to but don't. :sad2:

Thanks,
A.

I believe you have to be a registered user on the official Disney website and then those email codes are sent out random so there's a chance you would never even get one. Someone correct me if I am wrong please.

I don't think anyone knows the "secrets" to getting a code. There are timea that Disney will select a geographic region for a special code to encourage people from that area to visit and send out random postcards.

I have stayed at WDW resorts as a paying guest on 3 occasions, but most of the time we are DVCers. I did sign up at Disney.com ages ago and received 1 email code over the years. We are also AP holders, so we used AP rates for our last cash stay. When we drive, we tend to arrive a day early to allow for bad road conditions, delays, etc. We used an AP discount at POP for that one night before moving to OKW for our DVC ressie.

Remember to check your "profiles" section on Disney's website. I've been registered there for a while, and never realized until today that I hadn't selected the option to be notified of special savings at the resorts. Between work and home we have three e-mail accounts, so I registered under each of those and selected the option to be notified of special offers.

I have received ONE mailed code to Canada since 1994 (don't think that they were mailing them back then, but that's when I caught the fever), never an email.

But I did receive FOUR postcards last week asking if I still want to be on Disney's mailing list!

I do always receive mailed confirmations even when I don't want them.

Having said all that, I wonder if there is a postage issue - for years I was told that Disney failed to put extra posting on the Mickey Monitor and that's why I didn't receive them. Now they just don't mail them at all to 'foreign' guests.

It's really luck of the draw.

I got one once, but Disney screwed up and put it to my brothers name at my address. So I could not use it. I was furious but what can you do?

My brother has never been interested in Disney and the last time he went was when he was 16 years old w/ my parents. So he's never signed up for anything.

If you've never even been to Disney, I think you can sign up on the site, otherwise, you are in their system.

We went to WDW in October 2003 and that next Jan or Feb my 7 year old son got a postcard code in the mail.... who knows how anyone gets these things!!

Ooooh, thanks, good suggestion. I just changed my profile and I can feel my luck changing already! :cloud9:

I can't find it! What website specifically? I've been a registered user for years, just logged in and couldn't find anything other than "my account", but I didn't see anything about special resort offers

I just updated my profile also. Hopefully I will get an email for discounts. I always get the Disney Insider and nothing else.

You don't necessarily have to be registered on Disney's website to get a postcard or email code. My mother doesn't even have a computer and she has gotten postcards (she went on a cruise with us 2 years ago).

I have 2 email addresses. One is registered on the Disney website and the other is in the Disney reservations system. I have never gotten an email code throught the email address registered on the website, but I just recently got one through the email address in the Disney reservations system. I have never gotten a post card code.

Go figure!!

If you get a postcard with a card or even an email and you have already booked a package through disney can you get the code rate applied even though it's a package?
