Question regarding Location in WDW and European buyer

I see in the resale list that the offers are attached to a location. I always thought you get points and book the location you want to stay. Is there a difference in the systems where one you buy the points to choose and the other you buy a certain location? Or am I just confused and are all point systems the same.

WDW can not sell to Belgium. Can other companies do resale to Belgium (online)?

In case you want to have a loan, will this be possible to Belgium buyers… and what are the rules, limits…

If I would get resale and would get 50 points today and would buy another resale like in a year. (To make it easy, another 50) would the contract be changed to 1 set of 100? or would I have two times 50 (or other ammount). So would I have to pay two annual fees or will the be recalculated to one...

I am sure I’ll have more questions as I am new to this.

DVC ownership is deeded to a specific property location. Your points may be used to reserve at that specific location 11 months in advance and 7 months ahead at other DVC resorts.

Resales may be purchased from any country, but Disney will not provide financing. The resale broker may be able to recommend financing or you might be better off finding local financing.

Most likely all of your resale purchases will be treated as separate contracts, but DVC can offer autodebit payments for annual fees if desired. If you purchase your initial contract thru resale, you can still add points later directly thru Disney and this may be done while you are at WDW even your residence is in Belgium. (You could also make your initial purchase while at WDW even though you reside in Belgium.)

You pay annual fees on all of the points you own, regardless of whether they are in separate contracts or the same contract.

If you purchase 50 points at BWV (Boardwalk Villas) and later add on another 50 points at BWV but those points are treated as a separate contract, then you would owe the following dues for 2006:

Contract 1: 50 * $4.69 = $234.50
Contract 2: 50 * $4.69 = $234.50
Total amount due: $469.00, the same as if you had one 100-point contract at BWV. In other words, as far as dues are concerned, there is no penalty if your points are in multiple contracts and no advantage to having them all in the same contract.

Also, the annual fees are different at each resort. If you owned 50 points at BWV and 50 points at OKW (Old Key West), then your annual dues for 2006 would be:

50 * $4.69 = $234.50 for your Boardwalk Villa points and
50 * $4.24 = $212 for your Old Key West points.

Ghost, earlier this year I found some informaiton for Renate_do (she is a regular on the Disneyland Paris boards) about purchasing from Europe. I spoke with my guide and sent her the information kit.

You may also want to head to the UK DVC board (but hang out here too with us! ) Just be aware that DVC is licensed in the UK, but not in other European countries, so they can't contact you to discuss a sale unless it's in person.

In regards to resale, I believe that we have seen Europeans who have purchased a resale here. I am not a resident of the US but easily bought a resale remotely. I did however pay via certified cheque drawn on my US bank account, so that made it a little easier.

What happens if you try to get in a room and the time is all booked. Not everybody can choose his/her vacation so far in advance so that it would not be a problem.
I ask this because I seen somewhere that it gets booked pretty much on the 11 months time period. Imagine you can only go these certain weeks of the year but it is booked. This would be a possible way of losing points (if it would happen two years in a row.)

What are the months it gets full (I guess summer months and Christmas months are a given, but what about other times)

Yes, if you cannot book accomodations for a time you can go, you could loe the points. Sometimes, members rent points to non-members if they cannot use them.

DVC is pretty much full all the time. But not all times of the year book up by 6 or 7 months in advance.

Summertime is actually one of the easier times to get shorter notice vacations. September, January and the first two week of February are relatively easy as well.

How far in advance do you think you can plan? SSR is the newest DVC resort and it is going to be the largest on site DVC resort. You will often be able to get shorter notice reservations there.

FWIW, if you cannot plan more than 2 or 3 months in advance and have only certain times of the year that you can travel, DVC is not a good choice for you.

At this time I could well book in advance for the last week of october and the first week of November. And for the first two weeks in April... How busy are those times?

Unfortunately those are busy times, since October is Food and Wine festival and Novemeber is THanksgiving. April is spring break time, so all of those are going to be busy times at DVC. September, January, February, and summer months will be a bit easier. The worst will be the first two weeks of December, the week between Christmas and New Years, October, and most of April.
