There are many people that sponsor the Disboards by choice, not by requirement (which alone should say something about how the Disers feel about this wonderful "non-Official" Disney Community)

It would be interesting to see the % of sponsors by choice of Disboards vs that of requirement of D23.

At the time of this posting there have been 22,430 views of a thread doing nothing more then paying tribute with a pineapple concoction to a former Deli Manager who touched many lives.

I have seen more kindness of the Dis then I would have ever believed existed. Need examples? Sure. How about the GKTW fund raiser or maybe all of the people who wanted to donate either money or DVC points for the lady who got scammed on a DVC rental or even the kind people who do simple things like "help" Disney characters send postcards to other peoples children.

Oh yeah, how about the time that guy on the Disboard had his house burglarized while at WDW and comes back and post about it on the Dis and that Pete guy tells him to "pick a number" (he said I gave him an idea, I think it was a pat on the shoulder saying "Hey, it is going to be ok".

Quite honestly, years ago I was probably someone of , nah scratch that, I was a bigot about many things. Nowadays I understand a little better differences don't make either party wrong, just different opinions.

Do I attribute this change solely to the Dis, no, a little age and maturity came into play, but with that being said, On the DIS I have seen some wonderful things that people do to help each other regardless of age, gender, race, ethnicity, sexual preference, economic status or what have you and I am quite sure that has opened my eyes and made me somewhat of a better person.

IMHO you will never see something like that at a "you have to pay to be part of my club" community.

To those who own, operate, contribute, and participate the Dis, you guys and gals are doing one hell of a job in this cajun's opinion.

When I think of D23, I keep getting a mental picture of a bunch of Dissers saying " Badges? we don't need no stinking badges."

I don't know why.

Disney, if you are reading this by chance, you missed the mark on this one and missed it bad.

Thanks again all

The Dis has badges, they are called paint chips from home depot in the shape of Mickey heads in Alien Green, and they did not cost 75 dollars. That said , I agree more perks would be nice, but I did join because I really want to be a part of it in it's 1st year. I might have been taken, but I am happy, so that is all that matters.:cool1:
