We will be leaving saturday for our cruise. We already have fl. tours picking us up at Orlando and taking us to the ship and they will be picking us up after the cruise and taking us to the airport in orlando. My question is once there, will it be easy to rent a car and spend the day in orlando since our plane does not take off until 5:30 pm or would it be easier to put in a reservation for a car before I leave and have the pick-up time at mco for approx 10:30? Which will be the most economica? Help, we fly out fri night. Thanks for any help with this question.

I would suggest picking up the rental car in Cape Canaveral, if you can cancel one way of the towncar service. There are several rental car companies who have offices near the port from which you can rent one-way to MCO without a drop-off charge. Dave's site has some information here.

This way, you wouldn't have to navigate the airport to pick up your car. You could get it in the morning after you get off the ship and return it at the airport before your flight.

If you're planning to rent a car on your debarkation day anyway, you should look into reserving a one-way car rental from Cape Canaveral (or Cocoa Beach) to MCO.

You would need to change your towncar reservation to the embarkation day only.

On debarkation day, you would take a free rental car shuttle (Hertz, Avis, others) to a local rental facility near the port. You'd get your car, and you'd be on your way! Then you could go to the Space Center or various other gated or ungated tourist attractions in Central Florida.
