Question Re: Overnight Visitors

We have a 5 week stay, and we'll have 2 visitors for 4 nights and 1 for 2 nights during that time.

At a "normal" campground, we just go tell the front desk that they're coming and that's it. With Disney, do we have to go register them for the partial and get them KTTW so they can get into EMH? Are there extra fees for extra people at the campsite?

As with many things at WDW, there's an official rule, and then there is what actually happens in practice.

First, for the official rule, look at the second bullet point under Public Notices:

Officially, Disney says that they charge a nightly fee per adult if there are more than two adults at a campsite. But, I am not sure if anyone has actually been charged this fee. I know I never have. If you reserve a site on-line, and register more than two adults in your site, this alleged extra fee is not mentioned.


In actual practice, nobody really checks who stays at each campsite.

At EMH's you are supposed to show a KTTW card for each member of your party to enter an attraction. But, in practice, if one person in a group shows one, they let the whole group on. If you don't have a KTTW card for each member of your party, you run the risk of not being able to enjoy attractions during EMH's.

How carefully they've been checked has been all over the map - everything from barely a glance to "inspecting" with a flashlight, but we've always been checked.

Of course your mileage may vary, but if you want to be sure everyone in your party is going to get to ride during EMH, you may want to get them all KTTW cards by adding them to your site/cabin for the nights they'll be there.

I guess I should have qualified my experience. My experience has primarily been going to EMH's with my DD's. At morning EMH's one KTTW card is all they ask for. Once you're in you don't have to show it again. At evening EMH's you need to show the KTTW at each attraction. I have always only shown one. But perhaps that is because I am an adult and the rest of the party are my children- I always have the other cards with me, but I have not been asked to show them. Now, back in the wristband days, it was definitely a different story. But the wristband days are no more.

I agree that the safe thing to do would be to have a KTTW card for everyone. Then you don't have to worry.

Yeah, we don't mind paying extra for extra people, just didn't know when to register them.

I tried re-doing our site for 3 guests for the first res (when the first person will come) and second for 4 (when the others are coming) and the price didn't go up at all, so I might just call up disney and add them to the overall reservations.

If you are not looking for the extra magic hrs, fot them than keep it on the down low.

Last December, my son's girlfriend flew in the day after Christmas and stayed with us through Jan 1 (when we left). We took her to the Outpost and explained the situation. They issued her a resort ID and we weren't charged extra for her staying with us.

If you go up after check in, or even at check in.... they really don't care. But I'd have the card for EMH. Just remember if you don't want them to have charging privileges, tell the CM before printing the cards.

I've had a key card be able to open more than one door at the resort for joined rooms.
I've had one key card with charging, the other one not.

Although I do believe that the other person's date will show for the entire length of stay. Don't forget to have an extra parking pass printed for parking in the overflow lot, getting through the gate, and free parking at the parks.

Whether or not they charge to my room is up to them, it's always a battle over who pays.

If it goes magically on the card, then I can avoid the fight later.

Ha ha!! Me too!! I don't take up much room.

Five week stay!! I'm super jealous!!

We will be there this weekend. For one weekend only!

It's just a thing in my family - if you're the invit-OR, you pay. If you're the invit-EE, you don't.

But this thing always gets squabbled over come bill time, and we have to resort to subterfuge with bill paying. It's gotten to the point where we've actually had to call restaurants ahead of time and give them the credit card number and say "I'm covering this, no matter what anyone else tries to do there."

For the week that my mother-in-law and her friend are visiting, we claimed *months* in advance who is paying for what dinners, but if the bill is noticed coming out, people will still try to fight for it.

There comes a point when courtesy turns into ridiculousness.

So, I'd rather give everyone a card with charging privs, and if they feel like sneaking off and putting money toward the bill on their own, great. If not, that's fine too. But it will just keep the squabbling over payment away from otherwise enjoyable meals.
