Question re: On Board Credits

I am planning on pre-paying for my Excursions and some other on board charges by placing an On Board Credit on my room prior to leaving. Has anyone done this before? What happens if I apply a larger credit then I use?

We do the same thing each time. And last time we had a similar issue. We had booked several excusrions, then placed on board credits. Some of our excursions got canceled due to hurricane (we sailed in september, doh!) and we ended up with a credit to our onboard account. Guess services told me they could cut us a check (I'm unsure whether it would be immediately, or mailed to me), but we just ended up spending the extra money onboard!

Yeah no kidding!!!!

We came back with more then we went down with and didn't plan on extra luggage well enough! Needless to say, luggage onboard used up that credit in a REAL hurry!

How do i do pre-paid credits. Do i call disney? Can i do it through their website when my cruise is paid off? Ive started to buy disney dollars to put towards my ship-board credit but i would like to know how to do it directly through disney.
