We are headed to the BCV in December, and I would like to take my laptop along. My normal dial-up service is provided by my employer, and since that is long distance, I've been thinking about signing up for a Net Zero account. Does anyone use this? Especially from the BCV?

I will have to sign up for a premium account, because I have a Mac and that's all that's available. I don't want to do it, though, if there are no local numbers for the BCV.

Suggestions?

And, thanks!

I use NetZero from OKW. There are several local numbers that work for OKW. I haven't used it at BWV, so I can't say for sure which ones are local to BWV.

IIRC, Doc uses NetZero too... maybe he knows about BWV numbers.

I use Netzero from WDW all the time. You will need to make sure the number is local (the same numbers will work at all WDW resorts). There is a list of the local prefixes in the front of the phone book. Kissimmee is NOT a local call, but most of the Orlando numbers are local. Remember that when you set up Netzero, that the area code is required for all calls-even local.

I've used (321) 559-1305 (Celebration), (407) 842-1090 (Lake Buena Vista), (321) 354-0000 (Orlando), (407)641-4283 (Orlando) and (407) 597-1038 (Reedy Creek) successfully from OKW, BWV, BCV and VWL.

I have the Platinum service from Netzero ($9.95 per month) and have found few places that don't have local access. HH does NOT offer local access (VB does). I have also found that most local internet providers are happy to provide service for a short stay for no more than a months normal charge (and many have a special rate for a weekly dialup connection- HH offers this for $10-15).

I'm using Netzero right now from a timeshare in NC between Gatlinburg and Asheville.

Enjoy!

Thank you both so much for the info!! I'm glad to hear that Net Zero works. Call me crazy, but I was beginning to worry about being gone from work for so long. It eases my mind to know I can at least check in with them if it's needed.

Doc, I hope you're having a wonderful, well deserved vacation.
