question re: kids meal voucher (VKL)

Hi... i was wondering how the kids VKL meal voucher worked...i looked thru the other threads and did not seem to find a clear answer.... Do the kids order from the regular menu or do they have to order from the childrens menu....if they do order from the childrens menu, why would you want to get a vkl for a child, because it seems the childrens menu runs aroung $4.99 or so for a meal? Do you all seem to just order the vkl's for adults and let the kids just order of kids menu and pay for them instead of using vkl...please let me know if i am missing something...(my kids are 10,9 and 5) ..

I want to add a question to your question, IF the two adults have a voucher each , does the child have to have a voucher?

I think it depends on the restaurant.
In Rainforest, they allow you to use kid's voucher to order from Adult menu, hence, I used a kid's voucher and an adult voucher to order from the adult menu and then paid for an order from the kid's menu. I had only used VKL in Rainforest, therefore can't speak about other restaurants.


Yes. You certainly can share.
Deelovesdis, in you case, if you want the child to share the parents' meal, and depends on whether the restaurant allows you to order from the adult menu, you may be able to use a kid's voucher + an adult voucher instead of 2 adult voucher (say the Rainforest example above0

Carol9999, you may want to look into how many kid's vouchers you can use, I recall there was a discussion on the cut-off point for either 10 or 11 years for the kid to use kid's voucher. But then you may not need to use a voucher for everyone.

At Alfredo's in Italy we used the kids voucher for an adult appetizer (pizza) for my 2 year old, my daughter got the kids alfredo, then she got a canoli for dessert (another adult selection) with no problems.

DH and I used the adult vouchers for appetizers, meals, and each a dessert sampler.

When we went in Feb 2003 I used the VKL at Mama Melrose, Le Cellier and the Breakfast one at Donalds and Ohanas and paid for the Kids meals seperately at all. My son tasted some of my food and...ate my whole desert at Le Cellier... As my sons gets older (now 9) his appetite is increasing. I do not see any of the places we have ever ate saying you could not do this. Most kids do not eat a lot.

Not always. We ate at the Sci Fi Diner, and since they had no appetizers on the kids menu, we were told they didn't get one. Needless to say, we didn't use the voucher.

On the other hand, we used 3 kids vouchers for 6 boys at RFC. We ordered mozzarella strips an chicken strips as an apeptizer, a hamburger and 2 pizzas for an entree and a volcano and diablo cake for dessert. Oh, and smoothies for a drink. They were all off the regular menu. They all shared and there was more than enough food.

Ok, Where do I purchase the premium meal vouchers?And how much do they cost? I know the Q & C cost app. $11.50 each, and you can get them from hotwire club. How much are the premium vouchers?? and where do I get them?
I wanted to thank all of you for your quick responses. This site is amazing. It is so cool to be on a dis board where everyone is as totally crazy about DISNEY as you are! I mean, I am! haha
After reading the post about Alfredo's, I would love to eat there, and vouchers might make that possible.
