Do all of the hotels use ART, or do some of them have their own, private shuttle?

What do I need to know about ART? I saw another post mentioning it & now I'm kind of leery

Would you recommend using the shuttle, or paying the 12 bucks for parking at DLR?

Sheraton Anaheim runs their own shuttle (every half hour from Sheraton to the parks, and every quarter hour from the parks to Sheraton). If I recall currectly, Candy Cane Inn & the Hyatt also run their own shuttles (but I do not know the details of their shuttles). I can't answer your questions about ART...since I always stay @ the Sheraton.

I'd recommend staying within walking distance it is faster than parking and taking the trams or buses. BTW disney parking is $15 per day.

CCI has it's own shuttle, free to hotel guests and very easy to use! We liked that after walking around the parks all day long. :)
The Sheraton, Crowne Plaza & Hyatt all share a shuttle (these hotels are in Garden Grove, across the street from Target and very close to the Joe's Crab Shack), free but it picks up at the Hyatt first, then the CP and then the Sheraton. That's how it was the last time we stayed there, but just so you know, it's been a while since that happened. :)

There are actually two Sheratons: the Sheraton Anaheim has its own shuttle and the Sheraton Park shares a shuttle.

The Dobies LOVE the Sheraton Anaheim. The shuttle is great.

I've done it both ways. First trip (since I was a kid anyways) we stayed at the RI Garden Grove and took ART. It wasn't bad, straight down harbour with only one other stop. But, you do have to wait and get it on their schedule on both ends. And it was crowded at the end of the night. We drove one day and it was a huge pain. It took forever to get in the garage and then to go and get the tram. I felt that ART was actually faster than driving.

But, last trip we stayed on site and being able to walk was absolutely wonderful. I will never stay where I have to rely on ART or a shuttle again. The first trip we went to the park and stayed, too much time to go back and forth for naps, so we dealt with cranky kids. Second trip we could trade off who took kids for naps or to go grab coats as it got chilly in the evening, etc. Even across the street from DL on harbor would be fine walking wise. It's just so much more convenient.

I stayed at Homewood Suites in December and they also shared with these hotels. It was always on schedule but it was still not as convenient as staying at a Disney hotel.

The Sheraton Anaheim is not in the Garden Grove area (it's actually on the backside of DL...great view of the fireworks from the parking lot too)...are you sure you're not thinking of the Sheraton Park???

Sheraton Anaheim has its own buses and does not share a route with other hotels.

Sheraton Anaheim <swoon> :lovestruc

This must be a newer edition, the Homewood was not picked up the few times we stayed at the CP. :)

I have no clue what the different names are, that's why I said the one I was talking about was in GG. :)

I know the DL forum is generally messed up, but what would be nice is a thread that kept track of what hotel had what or no shuttle. A question like this comes up over and over. Because people need this information for planning.

There actually are 3 Sheratons, if you count the Sheraton Garden Grove. This hotel is next door to the Crowne Plaza and across the street from Target. We love the Sheraton GG :lovestruc. Stayed there last August and will be staying there again in 3 weeks. The Sheraton GG has a shuttle that services the hotel and the Candlewood Suites. However, when we were there last August, there were no pickups or dropoffs at the Candlewood so our shuttle headed straight to the parks.

This is a good idea...but as you can see from this post information changes all the time. lol

This is the Sheraton I was referring to, when we were last at the CP the shuttle from the Hyatt picked up at all 3 hotels. The Hyatt, the CP and the Sheraton...so this is new...and it's confusing too because I was under the impression that no hotels could add shuttle services due to rules and regs set down by ART and approved by the surrounding cities....that's what one of the managers at a different hotel said when we asked about it. :)

I am the OP :-)

I do notice that a lot of the same questions come up over & over again. I do think it's because the info on any given subject can change frequently.

Thanks for the input, everyone.

We have chosen to stay a little further away from the park at a hotel that provides a direct DLR shuttle. I would've loved to have stayed where the action is, but we were able to stretch our money further this way :)

We were there last in April 2010 - and we parked our own car. It was easy, efficient and such a time saver at the end of the night when the kids were tired. 3 of 5 nights we watched the fireworks from the tram on the way to the parking structure.
I know it wasn't *high* season but it was not the trauma and nuisance I had read here.

added for BC residents: we bought our parkhoppers through BCAA and received free parking for every day of our stay.

I totally agree, skiingFast. Checking out each hotel's website to figure out their shuttle arrangements is aggravating.
