Question re Car Seat & Car Service

My son will be alomst 2 when we go to Disney in Sept. We live in NY and the airport is about a 30 min drive from our house.

My dilemma is how to get there. My sister si coming with us so we don't really have anyone to drive us to the airport (plus our departing flight is early). We can either do long term parking at Newark airport or take car service.

I will prefer car service, but here's the problem - my son and his car seat. We have a seat for him on the plane and I don't plan on bring his carset for the plane ride. I think he will be more comfortable without the car seat and I really don't want to lug it around as it's big and bulky.

So what do I do about the car service ride? Someone told me it's OK for a child to ride in a cab without a car seat. Does anyone know if that's true? And even if it is, would you trust your child not to ride in a car seat?

Has anyone else had the same dilemma? I am going to call the car service to see if they have cars with child seats.

Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks

Why don't you valet park at one of the long-term lots....it is really easy and not expensive (at least at PHL...I would assume they have this service in NY too).

1. Drive to offsite lot in your car.
2. Register your car.
3. Driver comes and drives your car (with all of you inside) to the airport and drops you off at the gate. Unload luggage and leave carseat in car.
4. Driver takes car back to long-term lot. If you arranged for any services these would be performed at some point while you are gone (detailing, car wash, oil change, etc).
5. When you return, call for your car.
6. Driver brings your car to the airport. Some services let you leave directly from the airport (what we always do) and others make you drop the driver back at the lot.

This runs about $85 for a week stay at PHL. We always pay for the express dropoff ($10) so we can leave directly from the airport and not have to worry about dropping off the driver.

Puffkin - thanks for the info - that sounds like a good service and I'll check to see if Newark offers it.

My main concern with long term parking is the lugging back and forth of luggage, kid, stroller, etc from parking lot to terminal. But if they have such a service, it's worth it.
Plus the cost is probably the same or maybe less than hiring a car service both ways.

Tell the car service you are using that you need a carseat, they will supply one for the ride. They must be in a car seat w/car service, but they supply.
