I now have room only reservations at ASM for April- after the current AP rates..

I'm not counting on an AP rate, I will stay at ASM with my AAA rate etc.. however, lets say an AP rate comes out that beats the AAA rate I have.

1st- I just purchased 4 5 day PHP's from The Disney Store...Can I "upgrade" one of them to an Annual Pass.

2nd- Can the AP used for the room rate be a CHILD's annual pass, even though the reservation is in an ADULTS name?

3rd- How do you figure what you'll be charged to "upgrade"..

4th- where and how do I go about getting it taken care of? We will arrive in Orlando around noon time, on arrival day so I have plenty of time to go where I need to etc..

Once again thanks guys!

Yes, you can, just go to any of the WDW ticket windows at any of the 4 parks or at Guest Services at DTD.

No, the room has to be in the AP holder's name and since a room ressie has to be held by someone over the age of 18, you'll need an adult AP for an AP rate.
3rd- How do you figure what you'll be charged to "upgrade"..
The cost for an Adult AP (Inclusive of all taxes) is $392.99. Just subtract what you paid for your park hoppers and that's what you'll owe.
4th- where and how do I go about getting it taken care of? We will arrive in Orlando around noon time, on arrival day so I have plenty of time to go where I need to etc..
As I said above, you have to go to any of the ticket windows at the 4 parks, or at Guest Services at DTD. You can't do this at the resort.

I had been wondering the same thing. Where in DTD do you go. Our plane comes in late. Do you know their hours or how I can find out? I have a hopper with 2 days left that I would like to upgrade to an AP. Can I do this? I read once that you could get the AP rate for your resort with a child's AP. Don't remember where I read it though.

Guest Services in DTD is located near the Once Upon a Toy Store, I believe. They close daily at 11PM, so they are your best bet if you have a late flight. I don't believe you can upgrade a used park hopper pass to a annual pass. You can do it within 7 days of purchase, but not after that. Also, if you've used plusses off the hopper pass, you have to buy a premium annual pass, not the regular annual pass. There have been different reports of people being able to obtain AP rates with a child's AP, but the rules state that the room has to be booked in the AP holder's name and to book a room at WDW, one must be 18 years of age.

I emailed disney and asked them about using a childs AP for the room discount and they said that it was ok. After looking into it however, I realized that it was an extra $90 to upgrade both an adult and a child 6 PHP to an AP. You won't save any money buying a childs AP.

First, upgrading, you can upgrade any unused pass getting credit for price paid (not current price) and any used pass getting a pro-rated credit for what's left @ price paid. There is/was a thing where you could upgrade a used pass within like 3 days of use and get full credit on the AP with the AP back dated to first use of original pass. Second, child's AP for room rate, although the official policy is room in adult's (over 18) name and AP must be in room holders name, unofficially child's AP's are used for room discounts a lot, unless Disney has cracked down on this.
