Has anyone ever landed there instead of Orlando International? How easy is it to get to your resort at Disney? Would you know of any shuttle or how much time and cost it would be by taxi. Would appreciate any suggestion you might have. Thank you. :)

Sanford International Airport is approximately 50 miles from Disney. It is about an hour drive from that airport. There are no shuttles that run to Disney from there. The airport is served by car service and taxis. The taxis meter runs approximately $125.00 or slightly more depending on the resort you are going to. That is a one-way price, so double it if you want to return by taxi. DME, by contract, with the Orlando Airport does not serve the Sanford Airport, however times to Disney from either airport are the same because departing Sanford is much faster than it is in Orlando.

Car service runs about $180.00 and up for round trip service to Disney, or $100.00 one way. That is a low figure as the figure could get higher depending on the company you choose. The Sanford website lists companies who are permitted there and normally would charge the lower rates. Many Orlando companies charge higher rates because of the distance they have to travel, from Orlando, to pick you up.

We have flown into Sanford as well as Orlando. The airport is much smaller, so airport to Disney time is comparable to Orlando airport. You will spend more time on the road vs more time at the airport. We found renting a limo about the same in cost as some car services. Our kids loved the movie (and free pop) during the drive (My husband and I enjoyed the scenery). The driver was fantastic and brought the same movie for the trip back to the airport so the kids were able to watch the second half. (So drive time both ways equals the time of Sky High - I think that was the movie.) If you can find a cheap car rental code, sometimes that is the cheapest - you can rent by the day. Goodluck and enjoy your trip.

I am also flying into Sanford and I received these quotes to Saratoga Springs Resport:

Sunrise Florida Trasnportation: $160.00
Sanford Transportation: $155.00

Suburban Service: $175.00

Those prices are always included with a request for an additional 20% gratuity. In reality your $160.00 ride is $192.00. Try to pay anyone those amounts of money and you will get the looks

Our AAA lady found us a shuttle from Mears(I think)for $120 one way... We are going to rent a car as it will be cheaper for us to rent it and let it sit except for the 1 day we are going to the beach than it would be to do the shuttle x2 and a car rental for a single day.

Hello I am new to the Dis and this is my first posting. I have flown into Orlando/Sanford Airport three times so far, with another trip in 74 days to the same airport. I love this airport. The reason I love this airport is because it is small. The rip through security does not take nearly as long as MCO. The first trip the whole family took we used Disney express and we flew into MCO. The security was a nightmare with small children, and Disney's Magical express picked us up early, which was good do to security but we spent so much time in the airport. We now fly in and out of SFB. We met a great taxi driver down there and we call her when ever we need transportation. This woman owns her own company so you know the fees are to her not someone els. She is there when we arrive, so no waiting or lines, and she picks us up at the hotel with enough time to make the airport on time and not to early. The price is about $170 per trip. We have also rented a car at SFB and that goes so smoothly and driving to the hotel and airport is a nice easy drive. Also, we can see more of Florida on the road rather than sitting in an airport. I highly recommend SFB.

Can you send me the name of the lady, her company, and the contact info? Thanks.

We've also used Sanford and loved it. It is a terrific airport. The only issue is that there is no inexpensive way to get to WDW without renting a car. And a lot of people just don't want to rent that car and drive in unfamilier areas.
We have used towncar services..and it worked out very well.
As Edd says...those prices are pre-tip....you are going to (hopefully anyway) want to be tipping between 18-20%. We normally tip, each way, at about 10%...just in case there is a change in drivers.
