Question on when points are credited on new purchase

Hi - we are new DVC members having just purchased 300 points at SSR with a December use year. I was wondering when our account is credited with the 300 points - Do we have 300 points immediately and then another 300 points starting this December (totalling 600) or do we strat out with the 300 points only when same are credited starting this December?

We took out our membership in may and were credited with our points which you should either use to book a vacation or bank straight away as you will get 100% allocation for a limited time.

You will get your allocation with your paperwork before the closing date - if you have already signed paperwork contact member services.

I am assuming you didnt take the discounted offer with no allocation until dec ($92 per point).

If your ownership is one of the already completed buildings, then you would have 300 points from the December, 2005 Use Year and will get another allotment on December 1, 2006. If you won't need the 2005 points prior to 12/1/06, you'll want to bank them for use in the next Use Year.

However, if you purchased a pre-sale of a building yet to be ready for occupancy, you will not get any points until December 1, 2006 unless you have developer points as an incentive.

If there is any doubt about the status of your contract, your guide or MS should be able to inform you.

My just completed sale was for a to-be completed building. They didn't mention any other option. I did take the 'matching builder point' vs. the discounted price offer, so I got matching builder points good for Dec of this year. They explained I had to bank any un-used points by Dec of this year.

I'd suggest calling your guide to be sure.

So DVC is pre-selling buildings and you get no points to start?? That stinks. I would check with your guide to see what and how you bought. Also I hope you bought 2 separate contracts for 150 pts each. There a benefits to having smaller contracts......

Okay, maybe I didn't explain this well enough.

Disney is pre-selling buildings. They explained very clearly to me that my building wouldn't be done until October. Because it wasn't done, I had two options for incentives.

1) Since the building wasn't done (i.e. I didn't have any points at closing), they'd discount the price by $10 per point.
2) I could pay the regular price, but get a matching number of builders points, available immediately for the current use year. It was a one-year only deal, but I considered those as "free" points.
