Question on what can be taken on rides?

If you have a fanny pack that also serves as a belt will this be allowed on rides that have restrictions on them. I know this has been talked about before but I do not remember the final verdict. I am not talking about a large pack, it is very small mainly for keeping money, candy and other real small items. Does anyone think this will be allowed? Thanks for any input.

You will most likely need to put it in the lockers at Mummy, MIB, and Hulk.

Thanks for the answer. It seems like the best idea is to rent and locker upon ariving and stow everything and ride rides that will not allow loose items on it then pick up gear after. Are there any rentable lockers other than the ones at the entrance of each park?

Yes at MIB, Hulk and the Mummy there are lockers you can use just while riding that ride. It is free to use these while you are on that ride.

My Grandmother always wears a fanny pack when we go to Universal and they never make her put it in a locker when we go on MIB. One time she actually asked the person at the entrance if she needed to remove it and he told her it was fine

Just be prepared to rent a locker if the attendant tells you to. Sometimes, small fanny packs are allowable on MIB but they most likely will not be allowd on Mummy. Just ask the attendant. MIB has gotten stricter since they got the new restraints. And Mummy has always been strict.

Personally, I would wear a lanyard with $ and CC in it. You can stuff it underneath your shirt for the coasters so you don't get slapped in the face by the flying lanyard.

When we were there last month the lockers by Ripsaw falls were charging no matter how short a rent you needed. I couldn't work it out as the ones in the studios were not? DW doesn't ride Hulk or DD so we never tried those ones.

I met a very nice woman by the lockers who gave me $2 to get ours open again and would not accept it back when I got in the locker and got my wallet back.
Basically we had paid the initial $2 and then done Ripsaw, Popey and JP at once, by the time we got back the locker wanted another $2 but we didn't have it in change. I spoke to the guy by the entrance to Ripsaw who said someone would come over and open it, but this woman overheard and said they'll be ages take this. Once I walked back to the locker and got my wallet out I went over to her, but short of stuffing it in her pocket there was no way she was taking the $2 back. If that was you can I say another huge THANK YOU.:flower3:

i have found the employees at UO very helpful.

the lockers at mummy area are free for the first hour.

2 years ago, i put a few things in the locker, went in the express line and out within 15 minutes.

due to the excitement of being in the park, i completely forgot about my stuff in the locker. it was hours later i remembered it.

i went to an employee and told them my money and stuff were in the locker and i could not get access to it without paying the fee. the worker opened it up for me and told me not to worry about paying for the locker.

such a sweetheart.

if you go over your free hour for use of the locker, many of the employees will open it for you and waive the charge. sometimes in busy seasons, you go past your free one hour limit for the lockers.

it has been rare for me to be able to have a waist bag on when i go on MIB.
last year they enforced the rule of no carry ons. i think it is done for everyone's protection. if something would fly out and land on the track, the ride would have to be shut down. by storing your belongings in a locker, just makes it a safer ride for everyone.

i always wondered how they expected you to pay to open the locker that contained your money :confused3

of course....we're also the party of people who won't have any bags or anything to store in a locker, but we use it so we have someplace to store our beer/drinks while we ride :goodvibes

I wear my fanny pack on Mummy all of the time and have never been asked to remove it (same on Hulk and everything else at both parks). My fanny pack is pretty bulky, and they always let me take it on. However, they make very sure that I push it to the side, and they tend to push the restaint down harder!

It really probably depends on who's working the attraction as to how strict they wanna be as well.

We just got back and didn't have to remove fanny packs on MIB or Mummy. Our fanny packs were very small.

Hi! Having never been to Universal before I don't want to seem dense but could someone please elaborate on the lockers.

My husband always carries a waist pack that is on the big side so most likely we would need to put this in a locker when riding a those rides mentioned in this post. So there are lockers right near these particular rides??? When we put our stuff in a locker do we get a key? If we don't go over the hour limit we can just go and use our key to open the locker and get our stuff out? But if you go over the hour limit does the locker somehow lock so that your key doesn't work and then you have to pay to get the locker open?

The lockers are: across the entrance to Hulk, to the left of DD and to the right of MIB....if you're not sure...the TM will direct you. They are free and don't use a key, rather a fingerprint. The directions on the screen will walk you thru the process. If you are under your time limit, just scan your finger and your locker will open (there is no charge since they mandate you store your carry-on's in it). I believe if you are over the 2 hour limit, you need a TM to help you open it....it sometimes costs a couple of bucks, but most report the TM not worrying about it.

One thing about the lockers that I need to remind myself of for our next trip is to carry a tiny ink pen that can easily fit in a pocket on my shorts, so I can write my locker number on my hand and then rub it off when we get our stuff out. We used the lockers so much and kept getting back on rides that sometimes we almost forgot the locker number, and it took us a little longer to stand there and say....ok, which locker are we in this time????:confused3

we just got back and the girls used fanny packs with no problems on all the rides. my wife had a small purse, and she checked it into a locker on hulk and tried to rig it up like a fanny pack on dueling dragons. it was small and actually looked like it could pass for a fanny pack. when we were getting on the ride, front row of ice, a worker from inside the control area actually came out and asked her about it. it was tight around her waist, and she bput it through her belt loops and tied it off, but the lady said because it was tied off and there was no snap, like a fanny pack, she had to store it. well, obviously, on dueling dragons and the front row, the rest of us bid her a fond adieu and we rode the ride. bottom line is if it isnt a regular fanny pack, store it. but all fanny packs should pass inspection.

alison,

If you go back to the main screen where you scan your finger and they assign you a locker, i believe there is a prompt on the screen that mentions something like "Forgot your locker #" or something along those lines. The computer will screen your finger and tell you what locker you had.

i hold the line up when i forget my locker number.

i do what one poster said and write the number on my hand. sometimes this back fires on me if i don't "erase" the previous number

Thanks bubba's mom! That's good to know! We never noticed that before! We forget that kind of thing so much, especially when we ride several times in a row!!! It gets worse as I get older, or maybe as the kids get older! ;)

Hey, no problems guys! ;) As I mentioned before, our group uses the lockers to store our "beverages" while we ride.... sometimes too many "beverages" make us forget our locker number too.... :upsidedow
