Hi folks,
We’re planning a trip for around 10th October. I’ve booked 2 studios for the first 7 days and plan to add on day by day the last 3 nights we need. Am I better off walking the res first, so booking the 7 days and walking them to start with or having the 10 nights booked and then walking? Does it even matter?

You can probably tell it’s our first time booking a big trip as dvc members 😅

Depending where you're staying, I'm wondering if you even need to be concerned about something like walking. If you have already gotten 2 rooms for 7 nights, seems like there's availability at 11 months.

But if you think the walking is important, I'd actually get a 9-night reservation set up and modify until you're at your dates, then add on the last night at the end. That might sound odd, but walking involves going across weekends where points could be higher - you don't want to be borrowing points you won't actually need. If you do 9 nights, your points pool will be safe - then make the 10th night when you're in range. If you're not borrowing any points, then it won't matter.

We’re pretty stuck on dates to go so just didn’t want to risk anything. We’ll have to borrow from our 2027 points to have enough for the two rooms but good point about making sure we don’t over-borrow.

Yes borrowing points across use years is the difficult part if you try walking a reservation, from what I understand

I wouldn’t mess w/ a daily 10 day booking walk. The DVC site is not the most reliable, my theory is the less I interact w/ it, the less chance I’ll run into IT issues 🤷‍♀️.
You already have 7 days booked, so you have blocked anyone else from taking ‘your’ villas. On Nov. 6 or 7 just walk those 7 days forward & then on Nov. 10 walk them to your ‘real’ dates of Oct. 10 + 7 nights & 3 days after that add your last 3 nights.
