Question on Valet Parking

We will be staying at the BWV for the first time in December. We will have a rental car and are considering using the valet parking the Boardwalk offers. I have never used WDW's valet parking before and I have a few questions.

1) Can you call the valet services from your room and have them get the car while you are coming down to the lobby?

2) What is the cost and how much do you tip? Does that cost cover a full day or do you have to pay each time you have the car parked?

3) In your experience is it faster to use valet parking or to walk out to the self parking areas and get the car ourselves?

You can call from your room and have the car brought around. In our experience, it usually isn't very long to get the car. The walk to the self park area can be quite a hike, but if you're not going to use the car that often, it might be worth not spending the extra $$ for the valet.

We tip a couple of dollars each time we get the car. The cost covers the entire day.

Answer: Yes! Just give them the highlighted number on your ticket and they can have the car waiting for you. If it's hot outside, they'll usually put the A/C on, so the car is cooled down when you get in. Nice touch.

Daily fee is $6 unless you are a DVC member, then it's free (I think). I usually tip $1 or $2 to each person (the person who takes the car and the person who brings it back). If the weather is really bad, I will add a couple of bucks -- mostly out of guilt for making the poor person run through the rain.

The $6 fee covers all day at any Disney resort. You should get a tag or ticket to show at any other Disney resort.

3) In your experience is it faster to use valet parking or to walk out to the self parking areas and get the car ourselves?

I've been spoiled by valet parking. But when I do self-park, the time is about the same for me (unless I call ahead from the room).

Unfortunately, I believe this service is only available at Deluxe and Home Away From Home resorts.

Value and Moderate resorts are self-park only.
