Question on using KLMs National discount code...

I'm booking in Dallas for my DH. My base rate is $223 and almost every other line item is listed as "included" except motor veh rental tax which is $14 so my estimated total is $238. I don't see where this includes any other tax or airport fees which were high on a reservation without the KLM code. Will he be charged ANYTHING additional once at the airport or is the $238 truly the grand total? Does that make sense?

Thanks!!!!

From everything I've read, you will be charged your quoted price and nothing more!

Thanks!! I found another thread discussing it late last night...very promising!!

Has anyone been asked about being part of Air France's frequent Flyer program? That is my biggest worry.

We have used it 3times in the last six months and no problems. It seems too good to be true.

This is the first time I ever joined and went to look, and yes, it is better than others out there! Interesting.

I would probably just join their program as well.

We used the KLM discount in Dec. and were charged extactly what I was expecting. No one from National asked to see my member card from KLM although I did bring it with me.

If you are someone who checks the prices regularly and makes new reservations when the prices drop, you can't cancel previous reservations on line when you make new ones. You need to call National to have reservations cancelled when using the KLM code.

This was no problem though. I had made 2 reservations as prices were dropping and waited until the week we were leaving to cancel the ones I wasn't going to keep, all in one phone call. Easy to do!

What happens if you get in an accident? Has anyone ever thought about this?

If the code is intended for residents of Europe (because there is a seperate code for American residents), you will have a mess on your hands.

Not worth it to save a couple bucks IMO.

Just a FYI. I tried the code for a week in March and April and both weeks rejected the code stating "no cars available at National".

This is the car rental companies' loophole to put you on the hook in California, I'm sure Florida has similar laws:
just saying be careful...From my experience, National & their sister companies are one of the worst rental companies for threatening legal action.

California Civil Code, Sec. 1936(e)(-(f)

(e)
(1) Except as provided in subdivision (f), a damage waiver shall provide or, if not expressly stated in writing, shall be deemed to provide that the renter has no liability for a damage, loss, loss of use, or a cost or expense incident thereto.

(2) Except as provided in subdivision (f), every limitation, exception, or exclusion to a damage waiver is void and unenforceable.
(f) A rental company may provide in the rental contract that a damage waiver does not apply under any of the following circumstances:
(1) Damage or loss results from an authorized driver's (A) intentional, willful, wanton, or reckless conduct, (B) operation of the vehicle under the influence of drugs or alcohol in violation of Section 23152 of the Vehicle Code, (C) towing or pushing anything, or (D) operation of the vehicle on an unpaved road if the damage or loss is a direct result of the road or driving conditions.

(2) Damage or loss occurs while the vehicle is (A) used for commercial hire, (B) used in connection with conduct that could be properly charged as a felony, (C) involved in a speed test or contest or in driver training activity, (D) operated by a person other than an authorized driver, or (E) operated outside the United States.

(3) An authorized driver who has (A) provided fraudulent information to the rental company, or (B) provided false information and the rental company would not have rented the vehicle if it had instead received true information.

so if I am a member of their frequent flyer and use the code, how am I being fraudulent? No where on their info does it say that it is just for Europeans...and on my ressie it clearly states I am A Us citizen

Read a thread on another forum about a couple who used KLM, were in an accident, and had no problems with the insurance or with National
