If I own at BWV and got OKW points transferred into my account, would I be able to make a reservation at OKW using the OKW points at 11 months out or can I only make reservations at BWV 11 months out, regardless of where the points are from??

You should be able to make OKW reservation at 11 months using those points.

The DVC computers sometimes have a problem tracking the home resort and Use Year for transferred points. If you want to use those points 11 months ahead at OKW, you may need to insist that MS manually track the points for you to do as you wish.

If the CM balks at your request, just politely ask to speak with a supervisor and you will be rewarded with the result you want.

Enjoy!

I'll second what Doc is saying. There really are two answers, the rules and how it actually works and they are far different.

First, the technical rules is that transferred points retain their use year and home resort.

In reality, this isn't how it works. DVC actually transfers the points to one of your use years and they essentially become your points for that use year. They start with your use year and assume the home resort of the contract they were transferred to. It's unclear which contract determines the expiration, the old or new one but actually appears to be the new one.

At some point, this flaw will get corrected and somone who knew about the loophole and was trying to play it, will be burned. It's possible to work around this by forcing MS to manually track the points. This is easiest if you state these plans up front so MS can plan accordingly.
